Hi everyone. I have posted here before, but it was a long time ago. I am attempting to restore and bring to life my father's 27 Full Cabin Whaler Drive boat. It has been in dry storage for five years because I couldn't afford the expense of using it after my father passed away. I will now be doing my best to get it back into shape and turn it over to my mom or give it to another member of our family. I will no doubt be posting numerous questions about it moving forward, but only after having made a serious effort to discover the answers on my own first.

Is there is a drain for this boat? I believe there is, but, unfortunately, I cannot locate it. I ended up snaking to get water out of the bilge--because the drain is clogged or the plug is still in--what I thought was the drain. The hole I snaked was a few inches offset to the port from the keel at the very stern of the boat, immediately before the main hull is joined with the Whaler Drive.

I honestly believe there is a normal drain, because once many years ago the marina we had it stored at launched the boat without putting the plug in it and it swamped. Water got into the bilge and cabin but never breached the decks of the cockpit or driving area. The powerheads were not even close to the water.

Please anyone that owns the same hull or used to chime in! I need to be able to power wash the boat and many other things and just have the water drain freely without having to rely on bilge pumps.

Thanks for your help.

You need to lift out the well in the center of the transom which will provide access to the hull where the drain is located. The drain uses a Garboard plug and reaching it will require you to almost "hang" upside down in the opening in the transom.

Just remembered that there is also forward drain in the cabin.

The "hole" located port side of keel at the stern that you snaked is the drain.

Peter--just seeing this now. Thanks for the follow up. I knew there was a plug there and tried doing that, but there was water in the bilge so I guess I couldn't get to it. I even had the marina look at it and they said there was no plug.

Now I know what to do, and I really appreciate your help!

Does anyone have the owner's manual (or a digital version) for a 1989 Boston Whaler 27 Full Cabin Whaler Drive? Any help would be appreciated. This is just the beginning of a long list of questions I will have.
