The years of joy I got from my Whaler and the years of despair I had seeing her sit all covered in snow and leaves are scattered now. I sit out front watching the sun set here in the North knowing she is warm and wet and loved. The feet of your family are on her deck. High voices--lost in my past trips--brought back to life. There are some of you purist out there--rub rail has to be just so, gel coat or paint, Mills canvas; only the best, only what came from the factory. Only I sometimes envy you that fine line, that fine yes-or-no decision. And then I see or read about a Whaler that's alive again, alive by someone that wants it to live so bad they go 2,000 miles and more to do it. That is why there are whalers out there, now. It is not always about how factory, about you can make or keep them. It is the faces, and the smiles, and the screams I hear and see; the kids and young families. If you are looking to sell--like I was--I let my Whaler go for the joy. To know she was loved again. If your looking to sell, pass that joy along.

You are right. I just bought a 22 Dauntless and it is time to sell my 1969 Minot. Hopefully it will go to someone who will have as much fun with it as I have had with it for the past 34 years.

Well stated Deepwater. I just dropped my oldest child off at University of Maine this weekend and as I drove back along Route 1 and the water, I thought about my favorite memories boating with her and the family.

Thanks Larry,

She is well loved, part of a happy and very grateful family. She is well loved.

I work way too much, but when I am home, she is on the trailer getting my attention.

The other 5-6 days a week, she has the boys attention:
She has been fishing,
tubing,
camping,
knee boarding,
pulled a surfboard,
ingested a rope
and even conducted a night time sneak attack to shoot bottle rockets at teenage friends.

The Yamaha from my Eastport is now rigged and the wiring work is complete.
New Teleflex cables and steering work great.
Your custom tank is simply Phenomenal and now has an electric gauge.
Teak work, always more time consuming than my memory serves, is now satisfactory.

Larry and Ricki Hilt (deepwater) are awesome. I hope they can come visit us, there is a Montauk that wants them to come play.
