This article briefly describes the boat my brother in law restored from an amazingly rough condition. When I found the boat is was in thick TN woods and had been uncovered for untold years. The level of wet detritus on the deck was probably 3-4 inches deep. I got the boat from the sone of the original owner who purchased the boat from the one-time Knoxville dealership. All original paper work was still available. The writing is a bit off; I assume it was compiled directly from notes or maybe electronically from a recording... Who knows. You get the idea anyway. Bryan did a heckuva job bringing this old girl back to life from an extremely rough state. I suspect it is now one of the very oldest, well restored 16 ft Whalers out there. I can't remember exactly, but I believe it's serial number is 35 or so. Talking with Check Bennett years ago, he mentioned that it must be one of the oldest 16's still around as he recalls hearing that the first dozen or two hulls were scrapped as quality control issues were being worked out. http://www.woodyboater.com/classic-boats/ 1961-boston-whaler-restored-perfect-perfection/ |

Amazing work. I only wish they were some "before" and "on progress" pics. |

I think there are many more pictures available. Unfortunately, I think the raw, very early pictures of the recovery may be hard to find. But I believe others documenting the work may exist. I'll look into it. |

Nice job! That 16 configuration is just perfect. It is really a beautiful boat. Rich |
