Went for a boat ride this last weekend and had to wait at the ramp at Corey Lake, a local inland lake here in West Michigan, South of Marcellus and West of Three Rivers. I noticed there was a Sheriff's Grand Marquis police cruiser with a Boston Whaler trailer parked in one of the spots. While waiting for the boat in front of us to be launched, the Sheriff returned in his Boston Whaler, which happened to be a brand new Montauk 150. I walked up close to see the boat while he retrieved his trailer. The 2014-model looked no different than my 2008-model, except the new Mercury 60-HP decals are different. He had two small rectangular police lights mounted on the center console, a small antenna for his radio, and no bow cushion or railing. I asked him how he liked it: he said he loved it as they replaced an older SUPER SPORT 13, which he said always listed due to the officer sitting on one side. He thought my Montauk 150 was larger due to the bimini we already employed and the bow rail. I told him no, it was the same boat, but it didn't look like the newer 60-HP EFI is like my Bigfoot. His was just an all-standard no-add-on 2014 150 Montauk, nothing commercial. Now, of course, this wasn't a trained water police or DNR officer, just a cop with a department-bought boat so the can cruise the inland lakes.
