After a five year spell of no Whalers in the family, an Outrage ended up resparking my love of Whalers! I spent some time cleaning up the Outrage this summer and had some great times using it with the family. I then happened across a little 1984 13-foot Standard that had been sitting unused for many years and needed a little TLC. The previous owner had added a slew of fishing accessories, which in my opinion detract from the clean beauty of a whaler. So after a good bath, pulling all accessories, wood, cables, and wiring it was ready for a full detail. The wood got a good sanding and many coats of varnish to bring back its beauty, while the hull got a full treatment and complement of 3M marine products. It is all buttoned back up and turned out great! A nice dark gray TaylorMade full cover topped it all off. Once the motor is freshened up she will be ready for the water next spring! My son had a great time helping out! Stripping Down- All interior pulled and fully detailed- Sanding, sanding, sanding...Glad the Standard has the least amount of interior wood :) Hull came out great! Interior replaced and refitted- JP |

The images show some very nice work. What process did you use to restore the luster to the gel coat finish? Which 3M products were used? |
