After years of looking for one and owning numerous smaller Boston Whaler boats, I finally became a proud owner of one of Whaler's Holy Grail models: a 27 OFFSHORE. This boat is powered with late model Yamaha four-cycle engines that I have owned in the past and am very familiar with.

I would like to know the first-hand experience from members who own this model, and in particular what kind of winterization the 27 OFFSHORE needs for winter so no damage occurs from freezing temperatures. Thanks. Andrew

I, too, have long admired the OFFSHORE 27 boat from Boston Whaler. Congratulations on the new purchase.

In my humble opinion, the best boat they ever made, new or old. Congrats on owning the holy grail.

Congratulations on your new purchase and what a great, great boat. I have admired those from afar.

I would guess--that's a guess--the winterization is similar on your new Whaler to any other large Whaler cabin model. Your specific model probably needs some water lines treated for winter if that applies. Your four-cycle engines have a specific set of procedures to follow that is standard for those. Be sure the zincs anodes on your engines, trim tabs and anywhere else are in good shape and up to date. Perhaps some other owners of [Boston Whaler 27 OFFSHORE boats] can contribute

Congratulations Andrew on your purchase of a OFFSHORE 27. Maybe you can post a link to some pictures and tell us what year the hull is,and what horsepower your Yamaha engines are.

I live around Lat.24 so I do not winterize, but places to drain are as Sterling has said plus the head and its pump, lines and holding tank. The fresh water tank its lines and pump. The live bait well and pump. The fishboxes have a thru hull drain each, and the hull has a drain on center below the transom well hatch. The fish boxes have a pump and lines mounted to the transom under the same hatch. The baitwells at the transom self drain and drain or blow out the sink and the saltwater washdown and freshwater sink and faucet lines.

That should get you started, also check under the floor plate in the cabin as there is a bilge pump there in addition to the two at the stern.

I spent some time in your area going to college in Hoboken in the sixties and drinking my way up and down River St. across from the Isbrandsten docks and on the way to the Clam Broth House.

Good luck
Chuck

Boat is 91-motors are 02 225 Four stroke Yamahas (just over 300 hours ).One and original owner from day one - she was Jersey boat all her life.

Chuck do you still have your 92 27 offshore. I did find your post dating to 2010 and basicly I am in same shoes right now .Would love to talk to you about the boat if you can find some time. I do live next city to Hoboken ( Weehawken) and she will be slipped in my slip right across NYC 42nd street to Jersey side 5 min from home.

Andrew I still have her and she looks better than ever. My Yamahas are 250hp two strokes on CMC jack plates. I do not have the tower or grey gelcoat highlites on the nonskid.

I use my Owen & Sons triple axle trailer when needed but the boat is slipped at my home. My current project is installing Taco outriggers to the hardtop. I chose to have mounting brackets fabricated to attach to the top legs instead of cutting thru the top.

We use the 15 Sport much more often and I am getting her ready now for the busy winter/holiday season ahead when we have lots of company.

If you need the plastic bait tanks at both sides at the transom, Sue at Twin Cities contacted me and we exchanged information/dimensions from my tanks and she was going to have some reproduced as they are no longer available. Contact me anytime.

Chuck
