I need help finding a replacement [bow anchor roller for a 2004 Boston Whaler 210 OUTRAGE]. The boat was at anchor, and this idiot just drifted into the bow, completely twisting the anchor roller. I'm bummed and don't know where to start [repairs].

A good place to start for help in finding a replacement part for a Boston Whaler boat made in 2004 is at the Boston Whaler customer service department. Call Boston Whaler customer service. I am very confident they can help you find a source for a replacement. If the part was fabricated by Boston Whaler themselves, or if the part was made by a fabricator specifically for Boston Whaler, you may have to purchase the replacement part from an authorized Boston Whaler dealer. If the part used on your 2004 Boston Whaler was a commercial off-the-shelf part, I think Boston Whaler may tell you the name of the vendor. With that information, you may be able to find additional sources of a replacement part.Boston Whaler customer service is provided in an excellent manner. The value of Boston Whaler customer service to owners of Boston Whaler boats is huge. You should tank advantage of the resources of Boston Whaler customer service when seeking advice about repairs or replacement parts to your 2004 Boston Whaler boat. When gel coat meets stainless steel, the gel coat is usually the loser. What does the boat operated by "the idiot" look like? |

Thanks for the reply, I will contact them on Monday. You are right about the other guy. Let's just say I was victorious in the ramming incident. His fiberglass and gelcoat suffered greatly. |

If you can not get one from Whaler or elsewhere, let me know. I can possibly remove mine to use as a pattern for a new one for you. |

That anchor roller is a joke and Boston Whaler should be ashamed to have installed something like that on a quality boat like a 210 OUTRAGE. [The one on my boat] twisted like a pretzel this summer when I tried to pull my stuck anchor. If I knew that it was such a [vulgar acronym deleted] I would never try to [free a fouled acnhor] by force. Unfortunately it is a custom made part just for a Boston Whaler. [Do not] bother looking for original manufacturer like I did. Save yourself some time. [A replacement part] is still available from [Boston Whaler]; they are still installing them on the some model boat. [The cost] was somewhere around $250 with shipping. Call Taylor Marine Center in Delaware, a [Boston Whaler] dealer, and ask for Mike the parts guy. He can ship directly from factory to your door. On my new roller the mounting holes did not line up so I had to fabricate a small square [unclear, perhaps means spacer or shim] instead of drilling new holes. |

Wow that's some great offer and info. Thanks. Does it makes sense to remove it and try to straighten it? |

If the replacement part available from Boston Whaler is not an exact replacement fit on a 2004 boat, and if the part is not very strong, using a different part may be advisable. There are plenty of off-the-shelf anchor rollers or fairleads that could be used and adapted, unless the deck is curved or sloping in the area where the anchor roller is to be mounted. |
