Evinrude announced a new sales promotion today. There are several options and tiers for the incentives, as follows:

Buyers of engines as part of boat packages will receive:

--a 7-year B.E.S.T. engine warranty on new Evinrude E-TEC (15 H.O. and above models);

--a 5-year B.E.S.T. engine warranty and a free engine panel color upgrade on new Evinrude E-TEC G2 (200 H.O and above models);

--a 5-year B.E.S.T. engine warranty on new Evinrude (15-hp and below models).

Loose engine re-power buyers wil receive:

--a 7-year B.E.S.T. engine warranty on new Evinrude E-TEC (15 H.O. and above models), and, in addition, free rigging (system check only, excluding propeller, 75-hp and above models);

-- a 5-year B.E.S.T. engine warranty and a free engine panel color upgrade on new Evinrude E-TEC G2 (200 H.O and above models);

--a 5-year B.E.S.T. engine warranty on new Evinrude (15-hp and below models).

The promotion runs until March 31, 2015.

Good information, thanks for posting. I'm planning on repowering my 1987 Guardian 18, restored recently and sold off old motor. This sales promotion looks to be attractive, so will be looking at it carefully. Looking to get a 200, and probably won't go with G2 series, although interesting. Hoping for a good deal on the old tried and tested V6 E-TEC. Price, weight, track record, and technology that I am familiar with are my considerations, not that the new G2 engineering isn't good.

Thank you again for posting the warranty and sales promotion info.

The least powerful E-TEC 74-degree V6 is rated at 200-HP, which is probably too much for an 18-footer. I think the E-TEC 60-degree V6 150-HP would be a good fit for your GUARDIAN 18.

I don't have the details on the extent of the "free rigging" offer, yet, but when I find them I will append them here.

Thank you, would like to learn more. A new motor is a big purchase.

I just read where Charleston, SC will be having a boat show 1/23/15, so I will be going to that...I found details here: http://www.thecharlestonboatshow.com

I like the 150 and that's a good suggestion...that's what I had on my 18 Outrage, and it performed beautifully. My 18 Guardian had a 200 on it when I got it, and that size seemed well suited, given the extra weight (internal reinforcement for the factory dive door), and a rather large custom T-top. Plus I read where the weight of the 150, 175, and 200 e-tec is the same...so I figured weight even, the 200 seems like a reasonable match. I an intrigued by the G2 given the warranty info you mentioned, and will look at it, ask questions, etc when I attend the boat show. I talked to a local dealer last year, and could have gotten free rigging then, but I wasn't quite ready with the restoration, and wanted to give the matter additional thought.

Thank you again for posting the initial thread.

The 2.7 liter 200 E-tec will be perfect for your Guardian, which is heavier than a standard Outrage.

The 200 weighs the same as the 150, so why not have the 200? I have a 300 E-tec on my 22' Outrage and love it, its a perfect match.

Returning to the topic of the sales promotion from Evinrude, the details can be found at

http://www.evinrude.com/Content/Pdf/en-US/promotions/ repower_promotion_2015.pdf#zoom=100

The FREE RIGGING promotion seems to be extremely generous. For example, Evinrude offers $3,800 of credit toward rigging with ICON electronic shift and throttle (ICON EST) and ICON Pro gauges with the purchase of a single E-TEC in the 135 H.O. to 300-HP line of E-TEC engines. For re-pwer with multiple engines, the rigging credit offer can be as much as $6,800 in value.
