Just picked up another toy: a 1989 Outrage 25 Cuddy Whaler Drive. It has a Super Console, too. It still has original power that appears in good shape. I am going to play around with it over the winter, maybe take her for a spin if the ramp isn't iced over.

Will post some pictures.

Congratulations! one of my favorite models of all time from Whaler. The 22 and 25 Outrage Cuddy boats were very innovative for their time. Has there been any modifications or updates over the years? T-tops look spectacular on these models.

Did you score that one in CT for $7500?

ASIDE to John: if you find some production data that contradicts the information in the REFERENCE section, please send your information to me so the article can be updated.

Man, I drooled when I saw that ad. Would love to have a Whalerdrive on my 25' Outrage Cuddy. I have the super console and the super leaning post. Am considering enclosing the transom and adding a bracket.

You will really enjoy that boat, I think. I know I love mine.

It needs work, all of which can be done at a price. Maybe I'll turn around and sell it. Who knows. With boating, I'm always thinking of the next one.

With gasoline fuel now under $2-per-gallon, having old two-cycle outboard engines is no longer a big problem in terms of operating costs. I think high gasoline prices have driven down the asking price of a lot of older twin engine boats with two-cycle carburetor or simple fuel-injection engines because of the poor fuel economy they get. But at $2/gallon, that is not nearly as much of a concern as it was at $5/gallon.

John -

ARe you planning to restore to all original, or do you plan some modifications? Just curious. Restoration/modification work on my 25 Outrage Cuddy have stalled...but I'm hoping to jump start some progress this year and get it back on the water for next year.....so Living vicariously through others at the moment...

I have a few priorities:

1. Get engines running perfectly. I don't know if they do as I didn't run them when I bought the boat.

2. Paint and redecal the cowlings. They are pretty nasty, so I'll sand them way down, fill in any gouges/cracks with bondo, and paint it to original Johnson White. I'll probably do the same to the mid-section.

3. Take off the wood hatches on the back, sand to original wood, and Cetol.

4. Compound and Wax the hull. It needs it.

Other than that, and a few small things, I think she's ready to go.

I'll probably end up reselling it as I have two kids in a college, a 15' Whaler that needs the engine mounted etc... a 13' Whaler that needs the 40hp Yamaha mounted and the wood redone.

Oh yeah, and my 28' Albin, which needs some work done too.

YIKES !! I'm scaring myself.

Hi John,
Interested in looking at the 25 Outrage if you decide to resell it.
Working in NYC, not a problem to drive up to Madison on the weekend.
Best Regards,

Dan

How do you think this hull would run with twin 250hp Yamaha Ox66 engines? I know its technically overpowered, but I'm thinking its too much weight?

My 1982 Outrage Cuddy has a 2001 250 ox66. I get about 40 mph (GPS)at WOT (5100 rpm) with a yamaha saltwater series 2 ss 17p prop. Cruise is about 27mph at 2.5 mpg (lowrance fuel flow meter)(depending on sea conditions). Although I wouldn't mind some more power :), I definitely don't feel it's underpowered. I may drop down to a 15 p prop this year to see what happens.
