Boating Magazine reporters shared on their Facebook page an event held today at the Boston Whaler Edgewater plant where the president announces a 60,000 sq ft expansion:

They also toured the facility, where new boats are being built, and share some pics that are interresting.

Thanks for posting the links. It would have been great to be down in Florida this morning to attend this event--it's 8-degrees-F here in southern Michigan and minus-10-degrees-F up North.

The new building facility must be designed for production of these larger hulls. It is great to see Boston Whaler expanding, and hiring more people.

The picture of the 345 CONQUEST showing all the gear, cables, hoses, wiring, etc., is really illustrative of the much greater complexity of these larger Boston Whaler hulls compared to the simplicity of the old boats. There is a lot of "stuff" to keep working for the next 25 years in a big CONQUEST. It is fun to see it, but I bet it will take some work to keep it going.

Here is a good article. boston-whaler-celebrates-florida-plant-expansion/

I am wondering how many employees Whaler has now compared to 2008 when business went bad.

I suspect that the new building and new production line might be used in building the 320 DAUNTLESS that is supposed to be coming. I read a 32-foot bow-rider 320 DAUNTLESS will be on display at the 2015 Miami International Boat Show.

This is in the FWIW department. Harris-Kayot, Brunswick's pontoon boat division, recently moved into a new plant here in Fort Wayne, it's almost twice the size of the "old" plant.
