Just happened to catch this new TV show. It premiered last Friday, 4/24/15 at 10PM EST on the Animal planet. They did 6 episodes that will be shown in that time slot. I don't think they restored a Whaler as of yet. Maybe some of us could email him about that. The first boat they did on the show was a fin tail runabout from 1959, which is almost the same boat as my '59 Sea Fury, I restored 3 years ago.
Its a pretty good show, check it out.

pretty good show, looks like quality work, but let me say this as I South Carolinian, we all don't look like that, talk like that(well kinda), or are as backwards as a few of those clowns!
Its entertainment to spice up the boat show that just happens to be happening as well.

I agree. I don't think the actual work other than the demolition part is done by the characters on the show. Just like all shows of this type its supposed to be entertainment, not a 'how to show.'
Ship Shape TV started out as a 'how to show' years ago, but over the years it transgressed into a show that mostly demonstrates the various products that are advertised.

Ship Shape TV is one really long commercial, but I have to say I have learned a few things from the show that's helped me with my restoration. The restoration of the Fin Boat they are currently doing is pretty interesting but you only get one show about it every 10 weeks or so. I DVR it and delete 90% of the shows without really watching it. If you are a Sunbrella nut, or King Starboard fanatic, man this show is for you.

Stumbled across the first episode ( on right now). Engine on their first restoration was a 25/30hp Evinrude Etec.

Tuned in to the second episode last night. they restored an abandoned about 25 ft. pontoon boat with a 40k budget. Boat was left in the woods and was shot up by shotguns. It was too ridiculous to watch for long.
