Saturday at the San Roc Cay Marina in Orange Beach, AL I saw a Whaler 27 (per the hull logo) at a slip. That is a very serious looking fishing machine. It was powered by twin Yamahas on a Whaler Drive (looked like a WD from what I've read on CW). It also had an impressive new tower above the center console. Not a Tuna Tower as it was not tall enough but certainly it was tall enough to sight fish for Cobia and other surface feeders. It had a smallish cuddy. For a 27 there was not a lot of fishing room in the cockpit but certainly it had adequate room.

It is a very good looking older boat.

Did she have a name? 27' Whalers aren't that common. Someone here might know about her.

No name. The custom tower was very robustly constructed. I'd say a minimum of two inch tubing. I'm guessing it's aluminum. My cursory look made me believe the white tower was painted, possibly Imron, rather than powder coated.

If the boat is there on my next visit I'll ask folks on the dock about it.
