Hello, just want to give everyone a heads up for this years boat show, There seems to be a problem and there may not even be a show. The person in charge of the show/event came up with the idea of moving the show to the Miami Marine Stadium on Key Biscayne. However, the Miami Marine Stadium was to be refurbished with a bond in Miami. Well the bond feel through and since the event people did not book the Miami Beach Convention Hall someone else did. So now there is a boat show with no venue. Right now the only thing that can happen is that the show will have to be on different dates later in the year, or if they can buy out the event in Feb 2016. This was a mistake to begin with, there is only one way on and one way off of Key Biscayne, parking would be worst than trying to park on the beach, the area lacks hotels and resturants. This was a real idiot of a move. There is a 2 page article in todays (Sunday 22 June) Miami Herald newspaper...Happys Fathers day...just want to give everyone a heads up if they plan to come down south for the show

I would be happy if they moved the datw. The Miami International Boat Show (MIBS) has for the past many years been held on the same weekend as the Detroit Boat Show. The result is that there is almost no factory support for any boats or outboard engines at the Detroit Boat Show--all of those people go to MIBS. I can't blame them, as I would much rather be in Miami in the middle of Winter than in Detroit.

Maybe if the MIBS moves to a different time, we could get a few factory people to attend the Detroit Boat Show.

I have been reading about this mess with the MIBS. It sounds like they are going to mess up a fantastic event that has been making millions of dollars for all involved. It sounds like politicians got into the mix.

Seahorse, reading your post and living here I can tell you they are really streching the locations of the hotels and resturants. They are not within ant type of walking distance, and downtown Miami after dark you better be armed. If they consider parking on the side of the road for parking places then I guess that will be enought however, you will have to hump it to the show, and not to mention there is only one road in and one road out. You will need to deal with the people living on the key as well as the boat show...good luck... PS oh and I forgot the toll (somewhere between $2-$5 per car to get on the key) also on the key the toll booth can not handle the traffic on a normal day let alone a big show event as this...good luck to anyone going cause I will not...Unless I can fly in and return by Helicopter...

I recall attending the Annapolis In-The-Water Power Boat Show annually for many years. The show was in the heart of downtown at the city docks.

To avoid parking and traffic nightmares the price of a ticket included, I believe, centralized parking at a stadium and transportation via school buses every few minutes to and from the show.

It all worked very well.

I imagine the Miami Boat Show is many times larger with attendance to match but a similar arrangement with more parking sites could probably be an effective and convenient arrangement.

Disappointing as I am moving back to Florida and was looking forward to the February 2016 show. Newport international boat show also has shuttle buses from central parking.
