My Outrage search has now entered it's 3 season and I have come across a 1993 Outrage II 19 that has 200 total hours. Boat was purchased in 1995 as part of fleet purchase, stored until 2000 and resold to the current owner. He has put on the documented next 198 hours! Trailer aluminum dual axle, 9.5 out of 10. Boat 9.5 out of 10. Nothing wrong just nothing 12 years old is a 10. Engine low hours and apparently well maintained. Full canvas, front and top. Mooring cover, console cover, basic radio, fish/depth, cushions for all seats, dual batteries. No bottom paint. So here is my problem. This boat is the one but the asking price is just over $20k. I see lots of '85-'89's that are 6/10 to 8/10 with hundreds of hours, old motors, stained deck, bottom painted on rusty trailers selling for $8k to $10k. But is this one worth twice?? How do I justify a price and will someone else appreciate my find in five years?

Honestly,Purchasing a boat is never a rational decision. It is a purchase of pride and desire. No matter what market conditions are or, what fair market values might say, in the end what is the boat worth to you? Answer that and you will find it's true value. Down the road will you find someone who will appreciate the boat for the price? I have with all of my whalers. |

Here is a old posting that should give you an idea of most people's opinion on a boat like the one you are looking at. Of course the one you are looking at is 5 years newer. http://continuouswave.com/ubb/Forum2/HTML/014536.html |

Jeffs22, Thank you I followed that same post with many smiles last summer I know there is no question about the passion for these boats.Anyone else with knowledge of current Outrage II 19s sales or in the last couple of years would be a great help. Just trying to get some bearing to help the seller and I come to terms.

I bought mine 3 years ago. It is a 93 fresh water outrage ii with a 2003 Yamaha 150 HPDI engine. On a scale of 10, the boat was a 9. Included trailer. Paid $18500 for it. The engine was the key to the price, since it was nearly new and in excellent condition. |

There was a guy selling the same boat, but with a brand new E-Tec, everything done or redone to perfection, new trailer, new canvas, electronics and more. I think the guy ended up selling for under 19K and it took a while to sell. So, it's your call. Some of it depends on what's available in your area. But 3 seasons is a long time to sit it out. Figures you'd find a boat when gas hits it's high. |

We have had a '92 OUTRAGE 19II for four years now and love the boat. It was a lightly used freshwater boat like the one you are looking at and has been used as a supplement to our sailboat in Lake Champlain in VT. One thing I woudl suggest if if the electronics are original you may very well be looking to replace them in pretty short order - as we have done. Considering other issues in life, we would entertain reasonable offers. Drop me a line if you might be interested. |
