Greetings,

Two doors are missing on my newly acquired Boston Whaler leaning post / bait tank combo. They are the same size as the ones on my Super Console. The opening is 11 ¼” X 20 3/8”. Please send a message to outrageguy@cox.net if you can help me out. Thanks, Matt

Matt:

there is a custom cabinet door manufacturer in Wisconsin that might be willing to do it for you. It used to be called the Cabinet Factory, but has since changed its name. a google search may yield the correct new name. It is very impressive. I have bought doors from them in the past. Just a thought.

Matt,

H&L Marine Woodwork in Rancho Dominguez, CA (310) 638-8746.
h-lmarinewoodwork.com They advertise in The Log and have been around forever.

I purchased two louvered doors and frames for my Outrage a couple of years ago from them. They will custom make doors, but they have some standard sizes in inventory.

Thanks for the info folks. This is going to be a winter project because the albacore are almost here. I will be contacting one of these shops if a couple of doors don’t show up by next spring.

Chesapeake peaked my curiosity. I looked up the Cabinet Factory on the Dept. of Financial Institutions web site and they are still incorporated as the cabinet factory. However, they appear to be now known as Walzcraft in Lacrosse, WI (same address as Cabinet Factory). See:

Thanks Sheila. I'm trying to find two doors for the leaning post I purchased from Rory. I think he parted it out before I found it.

Try running a search for Seateak louvered doors.

Hope this helps.

Another web or EBay search is AFI.
They build teak louvered doors.
Good luck

Casey....I still have the original door from my Revenge conversion...I've just been so busy at work that I haven't had much time to deal with selling off the bits and pieces that I have sitting at my house...you can send me an email to charles.gilson@biogenidec.com and I can send you a few photos of what I have....Someone else will have to chime in as to whether or not this is the same exact thing as what you had vandalized...I think it is, but I am not completely sure.
From what I recall, my door is in pretty solid condition, but it could use refinishing (I think it's a bit grey from the sun bleaching it)...Other than that, I think its in good condition...I'll pull it out when I get home tonight and see exactly what it looks like....If you shoot me an email, I will gladly send you a few photos of the thing...

Search on "Chesapeake Charlie" here and get his email.

A few years ago I tried convincing the folks at Seateak (AFI) to make their teak louvered doors in the exact dimensions for classic Boston Whalers. I even forwarded the dimensions and original design drawings, only to be told that changes to the manufacturing plant in Taiwan would be to expensive :-(

No, I didn't part the doors out on that lean post/bait tank combo.

I couldn't find them when selling the lean post. I do still have three doors for sale, but they are not that size.

It turns out that the doors from the lean post ended up as custom cabinet doors for my nautical themed bathroom!! I had forgotten about that transformation of utility for those doors. Sorry Matt....

No problem Rory. I bet they look great in your bathroom. And I'm sure I would have paid more for the leaning post had it come with the doors. -Matt

Winter is almost over and I still have not found the doors for my new project. And I'm too cheap to have them custom built. Consider this a bump.

Thanks,
Matt
