No affiliation with sellers, but thought I'd pass along the following:A 1973 identified as a 14' (probably in error) which looks like it could use some elbow grease, but might be a diamond in the rough http://chicago.craigslist.org/wcl/boa/1004427340.html A 1987 15' Super Sport which looks very clean and essentially turn key:

Greetings All, saw the 14 footer listed on ChicagoCraigslist yesterday and while researching Whalers came across this great site ! Other than the fact that I want one I know very little about these boats and am currently waiting for the owner of the 14 footer to return my call. I am thinking of using this boat as an aux. to a sailboat that I own . Any info on this particular boat as far as strong/weak points, etc. would be greatly appreciated. Does anyone know if this boat came with a steering console and would a 40hp pull a kid on a tube? Thanks John in Chicago |

No, not *probably*. It is an error. That is a 13 footer. John -- Yes, most, but not all, 13 foot Whalers have a steering console. If the boat has 40 HP then it most certainly has a steering console and will be adequate for water skiing or tubing if the kids are not large. I learned to slalom ski behind my Sport 13 with a 35 HP when I was a 150 pound teenager. |

Tom:Didn't have time to check your CD to see whether a 14' was offered in 1973 (or ever, for that matter, since I don't recall a 14' Whaler). But the lawyer in me leaves me reluctant to make definitive statements... Tony |
