Just recently I sold my 1996 Johnson 130 off my boat and i am looking to repower with something more economical and quiet. I went to see a used df140 in long island and it was mechanically perfect and still had 3 years left on the warranty but it did not look to be in the greatest shape externally. I was wondering weather it is a better idea to purchase brand new or used. I also don't know what a good price is for a new motor and don't mind driving to get the best deal. I am also not set on just a suzuki 140 but I have been on boats with them and no first hand how they run, and you can't hear them while trolling which is perfect for striper fishing. I plan to move the batteries from the rear well into the console and I am not worried about the weight of a 4stroke. Looking forward to all thoughts and assistance with my repower dilema. I have also got a quote at the suzuki dealer nearby and he quoted 8400 for just the motor without controls.

Under $8k is s decent deal. Look for a leftover. I bought my 115 in 2006 for $6k and the 140 was $7k but I could not justify $1000 for 25hp.
