I have a pair of 1997 2.5L 200Hp Saltwater series Mercury Outboards. We took them off the back of a 25 Guardian to install some Optis. They run great but the Guardian was being put into commercial service and we put some 09 150s on there to make it a little more economical. We lost 6 knots! though. These are strong motors.

These are the 2.5L motors. They weigh the same as a typical 150. They will make a 25 Outrage fly with the same weight on the transom as 150s. Also a hot setup as a single on an 18'.

Standard rotator is ready to go and priced at $3000

Counter rotator needs lower unit rebuilt or replaced $1500

Sterndrive Engineering has std lower units for $795 with a 3 year warranty. They however will not have counters available until later this year.

Motors come without controls or props but I have some stuff laying around that might work.

Let me know if anybody here is interested. Might also take Whaler Stuff in on partial trade. Or.. a 13' hull.

These should weigh the same as the Mercury 2.5L XR6 150hp motors but, not the typical Mercury 150's. I thought the standard for the 150's was a 2L motor and they were lighter than the 2.5L motors.

We have a pair of the 1999 2.5L Mercury XR6 150's on our 22 Guardian. The 2.5L's are powerful torque filled motors.

A little known factoid is the 2.5's actaually weigh a bit less than the 2.0's in the same shaft length and configuration.
