Can I ask you how your RPS backrests are fastened? Are they screwed and pluged or plate joined?

Do you use genuine Honduras mahogany or Burmese teak? African and Sapele (fake) mahogany's are not suitable for salt water environments and Plantation teak has inferior rot resistance.

What would the addition of the rod holders and handles cost?

Also, does your prices on the louvered doors include the frames and hinges and what wood are they made from?

Mike - I have to ask...even though I'm not interested.

As an owner of an 18 Outrage, with all original fiberglass center console, how are you doing one of these with "black or white lines"? Seems odd to me, and I wasn't aware you were doing fiberglass molding work. Am I missing something here?

LHG,

Miss print 21 & 22 outrage consoles with a teak & black or teak & white UPPER half like the originals. Plywood bottom shot with algrip.

Are you talking a reproduction of the original teak console used in the 1971 & 1972 model year Ribside 21's? Like this?
That is some complicated woodworking.

If so, sounds nice. I assume the fiberglass base unit is reproduced in the painted plywood you mentioned? EVen that is a fairly complicated mold. Sounds very nice. I recently discovered what Whaler used for seam filler on those consoles. You can find it on Whaler Central.

All of your work is beautiful. I wish I had a need for some of it!

Larry,

Yes Mike is reproducing the classic 21 Ribside Consoles.

Mike, I'm curious, were you able to train a CNC router to mortise all the louvers into the door rails?

Thanks for that information, Jeff. Since I assume you have seen one of these, is the plywood base a faithful reproduction, and strong enough to hold up to the ride these hulls can dish out? I am anxious to see some photos.

They sound like a great opportunity for use in a Smoothside 21 console upgrade. But I understand Fred Caldwell does not have the pattern for the console rail. He needs an existing one to re-pattern.

I absolutely love this big teak console, especially raised 4" as I have done and outfitted with the tan Mills windscreen. I like it much better than any of the traditional fiberglass consoles I have in the other boats.
The front panel does need to be re-inforced for use with a Teleflex rear mount hydraulic helm, however.

Con,
The slots for the louvered doors are done with a jig and router.
