I just posted a wtb canvas thread but I want to cover my bases. I really need a cabin for my 7 & 3 year old if the canvas doesn't work out. A little about my boat: 1975 21' outrage 1985 200hp merc with a new powerhead, not rebuilt with 30 hours on it. Garmin 440s brand new brand new VHF with dsc. New bilge pump full mooring cover Bimini top Gel is in very good shape overall, was a freshwater boat until last season boat has been compounded and waxed, all wood was refinished, she looks and runs great. If I can't find canvas or a trade I would consider selling but not at this time. Would like to explore the trade/canvas route first.

I have a 1990 22 Outrage Cuddy WhalerDrive. I'm in the middle of replacing all the wood in the floor panels as well as other chores. I have been seriously toying with the idea of removing the cuddy (not my style anymore even tho it makes for a very serious looking boat; I already have full replacement canvas). I _might_ be interested in a trade for the hull only. Your 200 might be a little weak for this hull but I have a 250 E-Tec that would be a beast on your hull. Feel free to send me some images (email in profile) and I will send some of my rig in return.==Paul |

A 200 should push a 22 Outrage Cuddy with Whaler Drive pretty well. The problem may be the Shaft length. The classic 21's took a 20" Shaft while the Outrage Cuddy Whaler Drive took a 25". With a jackplate you could run a 25" Shaft motor on a 21 but, not the other way around.None the less Craig really has done a great job cleaning up this 21 from what I have seen in the photos I have. Someone will great a great but anyway they can. Whether by trade, or purchase. I now wish I would have traded my Newport for this 21 when I could have. Also Paul, if you end up removing the cap let me know. I have locker hatches for the 22 / 25 Outrages. I have been holding on to them in hopes of trading for a cuddy cap one day. |

Jeff - Thanks for the kind words, I appreciate it. Paul - I sent you an e-mail with some pictures attached. Understanding that there is an issue with shaft length on the motor I am not sure if a potential for a trade is still a consideration but we can explore our options. Thanks for your interest. |

I have a 200 E-TEC (2.7 L block) and before that a 2.4L Mercury 200, and it's plenty of power for an Outrage 22 Cuddy. Top speed is 40 mph, and acceleration is excellent, even with a large load. I think the power to weight ratio of a small block V6 200 hp outboard is the perfect combination for this hull. |

Note that Mercury made a lower unit extension for the 200's of that era which would convert a 20" to a 25" shaft. I know this because the 1989 200 originally rigged on my boat was configured that way. If Parrot6909 is considering moving his motor over to a 22 hull, he may be able to find a used extension kit. My motor had a blown powerhead, but I sold it to a guy on the Scream and Fly forum who planned to rebuild and hot rod it. That group seems to favor these small block Mercs, and may be a source of parts if you go that route. |

I would be willing to explore that option of the extension, I thought there might be one available. Paul - let me know your thoughts after you see the pic's. Thanks again. |

Parrot:My email is currently unavailable (probably something to do with my filters in Firefox and Google constantly battling each other) but I will check out the images in a day or two. Understand that I am not in an immediate hurry as this is my project boat and it is currently getting new wood under the floor cover boards, re-potting the fuel tank, and some other basic repairs. I've just purchased most of the repair material (meranti plywood, 1708 glass, WEST) and need to focus on getting it all back together as weather and time permits (it's not easy working outdoors with no shelter). Jeff: You can have first dibs on the cuddy if I go that route. Those hatch covers would save me a bunch of work. DaveS: You have first dibs on the T-top if I decide to let that go. |
