A Louisiana seller offers a 30 year old revenge with cuddy and it has a 1998 226 Mercury outboard. Add says make offer what would be a reasonable price? Here is the link

I have seen that boat advertised for between $7500 and I think $9,500. It all depends on condition and you should view it in person before making and offer. With the market today who knows, $4,500 - $6,500? A lot is depending on if the motor runs, shows good compression and the lower unit is free of leaks and the hull in not covered in crazing, scratches and gelcoat dings.

Back in 2005 we bought a 1973 21 Revenge with a 1995 150 Mercury and newer trailer all in good shape for about 6000.

What year model would this revenge be? Also, would the gas tanks and lines need to be examined, not only for their age, but because of ethanhol? Maybe the gas tank is metal and that wouldn't matter. Last, this hull has such a different look than the others I was wondering why. It looks very heavy ... is it?

This model 21 Revenge was built from 1973 / 74ish to 1981ish (Tom Clark should know the exact dates). It shares the same hull as a 21 Outrage. In comparision to later Revenges and Revenge Walk Throughs of about the same size it actually weighs less.

Yes, you should inspect the fuel lines for Ethanol Damage as well as age. The tank should be inspected as well. I would go into it expecting to replace the lines no matter what and possibibly the tank.

Here is an inspection document I created for myself to use as a go-bye when looking at Whalers for myself, as well as when I look at Whalers for others. It has most everything covered that you should inspect and ask to get a very good understand of what you may be considering. You can download the inspection document at the bottom of the page here.

It is also overpowered by 25hp which could cause stress on the transom and deny insurance coverage or even be illegal in certain states. Engine is worth at best $2500 so place a value on the hull & trailer.

Both the plywood under the fuel tank cover and the tank had been replced by the time we bought our boat, so you should check those 2 areas.

Thanks for the great advices. I think I would be better served to look for one that has been better taken care of and powered correctly. I don't want to get in to replacing wood and gel coat and then a new motor.
