Maybe a little high relative to a Montauk but in the range I see in the LI,NY Craigslists ads. As a senior member here always points out: "condition, condition, condition". I wish I had listened to that advice on my last one.

Yes it is always about condition. With this one and like many others non OEM interiors almost always detract from it's overall value and market appeal.

Thanks. Understood on the interior.

The hull is VERY nice. No bottom paint ever and less wear than you would ever expect for a 30 year old hull.

I'll await more opinions. Thanks All/

The last few 15' Whalers I have seen sold in the midwest have went for the $6,500 range however they had original interiors in them. So I'd say the seller in this case is not out of line. If you don't mind the non-original interior and feel good about the older engine it would be a nice, clean boat for you...and if you could get it for about $6,000...even better!

I would walk away. Engine decals are for a 86-90. Model number he gave does not exist. A 1994 would be a 70TLER, there is no TLRV. That seat is absolutely goofy as well. Remember that engine is 17 years old and worth maybe a grand-1500.

Understood.

"Goofy" Didn't need that but the seating works.

How about $5k?

Dropped $1K.

If it doesn't sell, it gets kept. No hurry on my part.

As far as I know, there is no "senior member" designation on CW, for whatever that's worth.

That's a terrific-looking boat, though.

no senior member here! a long-time observer. owner of v20, reject to most that frequent this site.

no bottom paint, but paint in this ad. am i wrong? look at through hulls, same color as hull? mine are brass.

From my POV, the boat looks great, painted and pretty; I'd rather take an early to late sixties with cracked blue gel coat, pristine!

love the bw junkies!

OEM cracked gel coat is the non skid from god! get u some!

You might want to say it is your boat, I assumed you were looking to buy. You obviously know more about the boat, condition, and engine year than we would looking at an ad on CL. Yes the seats still looks goofy to me, kinda like a bleacher ;)

To answer some questions.

Yes, it is my boat. Four years now. I bought it from the second owner that had it for 22 years. Paperwork to back it up.

There is NO paint on this hull. The glass is all original.

The Through Hulls (except anchor locker) are PVC. I replaced the original brass. The boat had seen some salt in San Diego. They were pitted and would not clean up.

Yes, the hood is from a late eighties '60'. I have the original 1994 70 hood and the original (new) sales receipt for the engine. It was my late fathers. It has been in the family since day one. It was originally installed on a Montauk. When my father passed, in January, I employed a local dealer (Alabama) to sell his boat. I live in AZ. That dealer is a Merc. dealer. He hung a new 60 on the Montauk and sold it. I needed a newer engine so the deal worked.

The original engine was a 1975 50 HP which I recently sold.

I would advertise the boat on CL in the midwest if they are getting $6500. You would maybe get $4500 in FL on a good day. I have had both a 13 and a 15, and quite frankly didn't see much difference. Now a 17 is a different breed altogether. Twice the boat.

By the way, what kind of wood is the seat made of?

Wood. Ribbon Mahogany.

I guess I keep it.
