Hi, longtime lurker that has decided to take the plunge. I am looking for a 18'-20' Outrage. After riding in a few, Im leaning towards the 20'. It will be used down here on Lake Norman. I don't mind driving to see it. If you guys know where any fixer uppers are I'd love to hear about them.

Thanks for the Reply! 22' is not going to fit in our boat slip with the Hydro-Hoist lift we have. But please send the pictures. I went to Charleston last weekend and looked at several boats. Im no expert but my brother is. Here are some observations of some of the boats we looked at on Craigslist:

This is a Guardian. Looked really solid, really dirty, and in need of some paint. I didn't hear the motor run. This thing looked like the work horse it was built to be. The trailer looked pretty rough. The owner was really nice on the phone.

This 22' Outrage was a little to big. It had a lot of cracks where the hardware is attached to the hull( T-Top, seats, cleats). The motor runs, and its loud like a Mercury should be. There is a crack on the top of the transom that runs the whole length. Might be de-lamination? The guy selling it for his boss couldn't be nicer, as well as his Wife and Neighbor. Still might be a candidate if I can get an extra or two pontoon(s) for the lift.

Next up, a road trip to Savannah and or Wilmington NC. Maybe I should take a camera on these hunt trips.

Jake,
When are you planning your road trip to Savannah? I'll keep my eyes open here for you.

Im going back to Charleston on August 12th for a wedding(little Brother's....we hope she says I Do). I might be able to come down on the 15th after the festivities. This is going to be a Lake boat mainly. So I want something reliable AKA, a Yamaha. Do you know anything about this one? I know its not a clasic, but what do you think? Any thoughts on the year, PRICE, rebuilt powerhead(this boat has one)?

A buddy of mine snapped some pictures of this 18' Outrage for me.

The first glaring thing I noticed is it is missing the brass thru-hull in the bow. That in to itself is enough to run not, not just walk away for that boat.

I think this is the boat for me. I walked around it last weekend. The hull is in pretty good shape. The broker has had it on CL and eBay for a while. We have a verbal commitment in place. Has anyone else checked out this boat and what were your impressions? The motor is actually a 200hp, the broker doesn't know the story about the 225 cowling. The trailer is pretty crude and almost looks homemade. I did see a small crack on both sides of the splash well where it meets the transom. Since Im new to boats I don't know if those cracks are a red flag. Before we exchange money for the boat I plan to check the compression and take it for a spin. How long should I run the boat for a sea trial?
