Hi, there was a freshwater 21 for sale this summer/fall in the Massena NY area. I would try calling St. Lawrence Recreation and boat sales in the Massena area and asking him since I think he services most outboards up there and probably knows the boat/owner. If you can't find the phone number, let me know and I will see if I can dig it up for you. Hope that helps

Make sure you test drive one in sloppy conditions before you buy. PM me for more info, I had one for 3 years.

I thought that might have been the one you bought Dave.

I have owned a 21 for 6 years now. I feel they are very well constructed and sea worthy boats.they are very rare in southern CA. I have only seen two others in the San Diego area in the last 20 years. I purchased mine from the east coast.
I would like too know what ledfoot has to say about the 21 in sloppy conditions?
good luck in your search
cheers

I sent him a PM, but haven't received a response yet, maybe his contact info is not up to date. I am curious as well, as most have only good things to say.

I've ridden in a couple of 21's and alongside a 21 and 23' Walkaround in some challenging seas - they seem to handle chop very well. I think in a steep following sea, I'd be a touch concerned about bow steer, but aside from that, this appears to be an excellent, albeit expensive and therefore slow selling, Whaler.

Yes they definitely have bow steer when riding down swell. but you get use to the way it handles and can correct for it. I think that is just the price you pay for a deep v that eats up the chop. and with the aggressive bow flare you rarely get wet, or even spray on your glasses.

Hi Daveb

I tried to do a search, but could not find a 21 Walkaround. Could you post the link?

Cheers!

There's one for sale near Chicago - we had it surveyed and it had a lot of water between the hull in the stern so we walked away. A potential project boat but not for us.

"Rode hard and put away wet" was the Surveyor's verbal comment after he left the boat.

I also looked at the one south of Chicago, I thought is was not a keeper. The survey information only confirms that. I don't think it'd be worth shipping it Downunder and then having to park it in the desert for 6 months to dry it out.

Agreed, it will have to be a decent one before I consider going thru all the trouble.
