Hull:
1994 Montauk 17 with comfort package (console rod holders, front cooler seat)

I routed 6 Ga tinned wire from the house battery through the tunnel to the stern for a transom mount electric trolling motor (motor not included). These wires could also be used to power an electric start kicker.
No electronics, but a working Lowrance/Eagle skimmer transducer is mounted to the stern and wired to the console.

The hull has been waxed at least once a year and is continuously covered when not on the water. Nevertheless, the deck has accumulated many gelcoat cracks. This is not a structural defect, only a cosmetic nuisance that does not affect the performance of the boat in any way. The outer hull is virtually crack-free. There was a repair done (dealer) on some gelcoat cracking at the bow (just under the smirk) while the hull was under warranty.
There was a leak beneath the sprue hole (inner hull) that was discovered in March of 2007. The foam below the epoxy cap had become wet during the first week of spring while it sat uncovered waiting for the stripers to come up the Hudson. I immediately removed the epoxy cap, removed the bow eye, dried the foam indoors for 3+ months, filled the voids with reinforced epoxy and re-sealed the cap and eye. I missed the whole striper season and faced an annoyed wife who was unable to park the family taxi in the garage, but my Montauk took priority.

Approx 300 total hours, no trolling
I have maintained this motor myself and it is in pristine condition with all original paint and the original, LIKE NEW condition, painted stainless prop. I also have a spare polished stainless prop in mint condition. One look at the lower unit of this motor will clearly show how careful (OK, and a bit lucky) I am that the engine touches nothing but air and water.

This motor runs strong! It has the best hole shot of any 90hp Montauk I’ve ridden in. This motor has never failed to start, nor left me stranded.
Max speed 45mph, cruise 26mph (3800 rpm sweet spot)

I have taken this boat fully loaded (and then some) with gear, full fuel, and 7 occupants up to 35mph.

Trailer:
1995 galvanized EZ-Loader single torsion axle bunk trailer
New strap winch and wheel tongue jack in 2010
Bearings have grease zerks and have been greased after EVERY trip involving a launch

One cracked lens but all sealed bulbs work
Flat 4 pin connector
No brakes

I have a ship’s log with all maintenance and sailing records from 2005 until last weekend. I am still looking for the 2002 – 2005 edition. What I DO have from the old log is that the Evinrude consumed only 6.5 gallons of oil to that point with an estimated 160 hours use.

This is a great boat and has served us well. I am posting here first for fellow Whaler-worshipers to have the first opportunity. I am not in a hurry to sell, that is, unless an equally clean and maintained Outrage or Revenge hits the market nearby. I will consider a trade plus cash if a clean boat is offered. Look for a posting on Hudson Valley Craigslist in the near future.

Thanks for making it this far through the description. I feel it is best to offer full disclosure of all details up front. I am offering this boat with the trailer at $9,500. I feel it would be worth 11k or more without the gelcoat cracking and bow repair, but I’ll let the market will tell me if it’s worth the asking price.
