1969 Boston Whaler Menemsha in excellent condition, 2005 Load Rite trailer, and freshwater, low hour 1983 Johnson 70hp outboard for sale.

I am the third owner of this Whaler. It was originally shipped out of the Rockland, MA factory on 5/21/69 to a W.T. Sampson Smith Marine in Cooperstown, NY. The second owner also lived in upstate NY who I purchased the boat from. The boat has always been used in freshwater and has never been in saltwater. I have owned the boat for 2 years and just finished a detailed restoration of the Menemsha. The only reason why I am selling is I am relocating to Maryland with my job and have too many boats.

My work completed on the Menemsha includes: new brass drain tubes; original Kainer steering wheel was blasted and powder-coated; exterior of the hull was professionally faired, primed and painted with Awlgrip applied from the deck seam down (applied by Custom Coatings of Thomaston, ME, who paints all boats for Lyman-Morse Yachts); 2 coats of Pettit Vivid white anti-foulant applied to the bottom; new safety glass installed in the windshield; boat was completely re-wired with heat shrink connectors; all hardware was re-chromed; mahogany interior was stripped and varnished w/8 coats of Epifanes classic varnish; some interior mahogany was replaced with new wood; original gray Ritchie Explorer installed with working light; low hour freshwater 1983 70hp Johnson with trim/tilt was installed with new Teleflex TXExtreme cables and new Morse MT-3 Controls; BW Eastport style stern seat was added; new original equipment glue on rubrail installed.

The marine head was removed prior to my purchase and the thru-hulls have been filled and fiber-glassed over prior to application of the Awlgrip. The original helm chair was missing so I had a custom leaning post installed. It has a fold down footrest and 4 rod-holders behind the backrest. The leaning post came out great and I think it is more practical than the original molded fiberglass helm seat. I also installed an Eastport style stern seat which also came out great and looks like it should have come with the boat.

The engine is a 1983 Johnson 2-stroke, 3-cylinder, motor with power trim/tilt. The motor came from Michigan and was strictly used in freshwater. The motor has less than 400 hours and perfect compression in all 3 cylinders (118-120 psi) and sports the original paint. I replaced the water pump and also changed the lower unit oil this spring. The Morse MT-3 controls are brand new along with the Morse TXExtreme control cables. Also new is a 6-gallon OMC Duratank and new OMC fuel hose & primer bulb assembly. The motor runs and operates perfectly.

This is an excellent example of a rare Menemsha model (just over 200 produced) that needs absolutely nothing and is ready to turn the key and go. Everything works on the boat including the bow, stern, and anchor light. Also included is a canvas mooring cover that covers the cockpit from the windshield to the transom.

This boat gets looks and compliments everywhere it goes and is truly a very unique classic Whaler. I am happy to answer any questions you have, feel free to call or email and thanks for looking. Asking $9400 OBRO.

Thanks for the compliment....she certainly came out nice and it pains me to have sold her, but there are always more Whalers out there if I need another project!

Wow... and I so want a nice one. Have a plan to run from Canada to Key West in a 17, camping for a month enroute as an adventure, and want a Menemsha to do it in. Good ones are scarce.

Had I only seen this sooner... :-(

If the buyer backs out, ping me.
