Looking at a 2001 Outrage 21, but doesn't come with a trailer. Any advice on on where to look, or what trailers might be compatible? I have contacted some regional trailer manufacturers (Eagle, Shorlandr, Phoenix), but they do not sell directly to the public. The cost of a new trailer is ~$4-6k, which is more than I can pay! Thanks.

Located in MI. See you are in Suttons Bay. I am in the Charlevoix area during the summer (at least as often as I can be)

I'm forgetting the name at the moment, but there is a manufacturer in Grand Haven (actually in Nunica). I think it's called Integrity or Prosperity or something like that.. They're on the expensive side, but I think they take trailers in trade - so you may be able to find a used trailer through them.

My dad also purchased a VENTURE trailer for his 22' Guardian last summer - I think it was in the $3K range; which was pretty aggressive.

If you plan to tow the boat regularly (i.e. keep it on the trailer)...it is worth it to pay a little more now to get a good, quality trailer...my opinion.

Also:
- We don't know Where you are, except that you like to get up to Charlevoix...someone may know a great retailer near where you live.

- $4 - $6K is on the high side - start bargaining. I paid $4,500 for a custom-built tandem-axle all aluminum trailer for my 25 with 15" rims, SS hardware, a full spare, spindle lube hubs and disc brakes on both axles. You should be in the $2,800 - $3,200 range for a 21' boat....and about $1,000 for a good used trailer, if you can find one locally.

If you're "sold" on this boat, you should investigate some storage options in a marina yard and take the time to find a trailer that suits your needs. Again - my opinion is that if you buy a used trailer, you generally get 1) someone else's problem and 2) you get to do some work on the wiring/lighting, and refurbish the axles and perhaps even replace the springs, add some bunk carpet, replace some bolts and hardware, etc...in the end, it may be a better deal to get a boat that already has a trailer, or negotiate the price more aggressively on this boat so you can afford a trailer for it.

In Michigan, it seems that our freshwater environment and seasonal boating means that trailers don't really get swapped until they are TRULY tired and worn out...which could be a very long time. My old 1968 SnowCo trailer is still seeing regular service (now converted to a light-duty utility/dump trailer).

Sam, if you ever get to Manton there is an old guy that used to deal in the discontinued trailers from the FourWinns factory in Cadillac. He has a few left.

You may have to do some remodeling of the bunks. I considered going that way.

Then bought a Phoenix from Irish Boat Shop in Charlevoix.
