Question? What is a fair price for a 2008 170 Montauk w/fishing package located in the Mid Atlantic region? Low hrs, no bottom paint, covers, bimini, and depth finder. NADA has retail at 17000 and list at 24000. Any thoughts? |

Ignore NADA. The rig should be priced in terms of some percentage of what a potentional buyer of yours would have to pay for a like kind new one. If yours is almost as good as new, maybe a discount of 25%-30% from new would make a sale? |

NADA is often inaccurate when it comes to boat values, especially with older boats where condition varies greatly. I generally recommend BUC over NADA for boats. You can get limited free access with their BUCValu or pay for BUCValu Professional (can buy as little as 1 month access). Here are the descriptions from their website: "BUCValu is our online web-based equivalent to the BUC Used Boat Price Guide for consumers to obtain boat values and prices of boats. You can quickly find values for boats, yachts and watercraft using our sophisticated searching alogorithms [sic]. The Consumer version is limited to 3 unique price views over a 4 month period. The same exact boat, yacht or watercraft may be viewed unlimited times for up to a year." "BUCValuPro is designed to provide boat values for the Professional. There are no advertisements. You can enter the condition, location, add outboard motors/engines and trailers to get a better indication of the value. Price adjustments are automatically calculated for you based on area and condition specified. Boat replacement values are also shown. A printer friendly page is provided. Allows unlimited viewing of all available boats/yachts/watercraft." Here is a link to their website where you can look up the boat and compare it to what NADA reported: |

I would advertise it for $22,500 or maybe a bit higher and then negotiate with buyers. I wouldn't let it go for under $20K. The 2008 is the first year of the taller console; taller drivers might be looking for a 2008+ boat. Here is a 170 Montauk in Maryland that was listed at $21,000 and must have sold recently. |

I'd question "lists of 24,000". That's what I paid in 2006 for the same boat and I was at or slightly below list for that year (with fishing package option). A 2012 170 Montauk is over 28,000 with no options. |

Maybe: Does your Montauk have any other significant options? I am in Michigan and very close to buying a 2008 170. I missed a 2006 last year that was advertised for 21,000. the one I am looking at now the seller is asking 24,000, but it is tricked out with the full aft seat and electronics. |

I have a pristine 2008 fresh water montauk with a comfort package, live well and whaler I-beam aluminum trailer. This is and has been baby but health reasons tell me I need to change hobbies. If interested please call Todd at 414-349-9927 |

Thanks, I was out of town and missed out on the boat. Sold $20500. If anyone has 2008 or newer in the Mid Atlantic region let me know. |
