1988 Montauk with 2007 90 hp E-TEC and 2005 Loadmaster trailer. looking to sell for $10k. pictures were taken last summer - http://s143.photobucket.com/albums/r157/etimothy/boat%20pics%208-7-11/ |

For 10k this may be the deal of the century if the boat still looks like the pictures show. Good luck on the sale |

I agree with T.O. One short day in northern California and you'd be fighting off potential buyers. Tony |

Too bad I am in FL and not CA, I guess I will hope for $10k in this market. It is essentially in the same condition as last year but it does need a good cleaning. |

$10K?! Wow. If I was in the market I'd be all over that. I almost want to make myself be in the market. Erik, not sure what part of FL you're in, but I'm in Tampa and a Montauk from this era in poor-ish condition is in the $5K ballpark. Yours looks, in the photos, to be in pretty good condition. With that E-Tec and aluminum trailer I'd put it more in the $12K-$13K range. A true steal at $10K if all is well. Point of reference- (and maybe I overpaid) I purchased an 85 Montauk with her original 90 Johnson (rebuilt) earlier this year with a 10 year old galvanized trailer (all in probably 9/10 condition) for $7500. I justified it by the condition of the package and that I know the history and story of the boat/motor.

Your profile says Brandon, I am right down the street in Apollo Beach. I have followed the local boat prices and I am not sure I agree with your pricing. I think it is priced fairly well, especially in this economy. I see a lot of similar boats on Craigslist in the $10k range with slightly older motors, and they stay there for a long time. Even more boats for $5k or less range with old power. If it were that great of a deal, this post would have more replies and my inbox would be filled (it is not). |
| bkjones |
Brandon indeed! I hear where you're coming from. Definitely a lot of junk on Craigslist. I've had success with Boattrader.com in the past. Hopefully it will move quickly at that price. Good luck to you! |

Put your boat on ebaymotors. You will open your boat up to the national market. I think it would sell quickly at $12,500. |

Still no dice huh? |

I still have the boat and I'm still interested in selling if anyone is interested in that perfect Christmas present. I haven't really been actively trying to sell it. It is only listed here and I haven't bumped in while. Erik |
| bkjones |
Erik, Did you sell? Or were you possibly trailering down US41 today near the Alafia? |
| wannabe |
Craigslist is the an alternative place to sell. Alot of people that frequent this site already have boats. They come here to learn more about them. just my opinion |
| wstr75 |
Your boat, motor, trailer are worth the asking price. I'd put it on Craigslist in mid to late February. You would get better coverage by listing it on several Craigslist locations in Florida. Longer days, warmer weather, a break from the today's gloomy end of year political/economic news and you'll hear from someone itching to go boating in your Boston Whaler Montauk. If it were winter of 2010 again, I'd be the person driving down to FL to buy your boat. I restored a 1983 Montauk, re-powered with a 2007 E-Tec, new trailer, new electronics, new batteries and could have saved some major change buying a ready-go set-up like yours. Good luck. |

Brandon - That was me, I usually put in at Williams and I did go for a ride yesterday. Craigslist is only an OK place to sell things, I have tried before and it is painful to deal with all of the nonsense that comes with a craigslist ad. I have only been half-heartedly selling as I really enjoy the boat, I just don't get out much. I'll continue my half-hearted effort to sell and maybe one day it will happen. Note this was originally put up on this website in the August of 2011 and re-advertised May of 2012. Alot of people give a good speech on how good the price is but it must not be that good or I would have sold it. Erik |

Eric, Had i seen this a few months ago I may have purchased this. I have since purchased another boat however. I think it is well worth your asking price. Keep advertising; it will sell. |
| Erik 88Montauk |
I had the service done at the beginning of last month, only 200 hours in 6 years, this boat needs someone who will use it. New fishfinder installed after the old one finally gave up. Ready for a new owner. |

Erik any interest in a trade. 1989 Corvette convertible, total rebuild, all new with <5K miles White with tan top & interior. Chuck |
| Erik 88Montauk |
Chuck, interesting trade options and there was some discussion at the house but we'll have to pass. |

Thanks for the reply Erik, I think the Corvette has a buyer as of last night. We have several Corvettes and only a 3 car garage. We will be discussing things here as well. I do not enjoy the hassel of selling cars or boats, however owning three Whalers at once though tempting is not going to fly with the Admiral. I'll check back if I decide to sell the 15 Sport. Still available and summer is approaching, even though many of you up north may not believe it. Comes with the original rails which are not currently installed plus extras like the anchor, two nice e-searider marine beanbag chairs and life jackets. It is all ready to go. |

I'm in the market... I just need to find a way to get it to California safely and reasonably... |
| Erik 88Montauk |
I understand, the $2500 you mentioned in your thread is a bit expensive. |
| Ventura |
Eric Is the etch a two or three cylinder? You by far in my opinion have the perfect size whaler including a 17 which I gave to my son. Including it we have had an 18 Ventura and a 22 outrage. 17 fits in garage low maintenance easys to tow etc. We have fished ours 30 miles offshore ffzor sailfish and wahoo and come back in the same day for fresh water bass. Things are picking up hang in there. Doubt I could find an excuse for a 4th. Boat but who Knows JJC |

3 cylinder |
| Erik 88Montauk |
Almost a year since I first put it up and I've had a few people email me but no one has been interested enough to come and see it. I guess I should consider getting serious and putting an ad somewhere else. Meanwhile I'll just enjoy the ride. |
| bkjones |
Erik, How many hours on the motor? |
| Erik 88Montauk |
just over 200, by just over I mean somewhere over 200 and less than 205. |

The photos indicate you have a nice boat, and I am surprised it hasnt' already sold. To me it appears to be set up as a hard core fishing boat for two guys. I think you could enhance it's value and easily get your price by bringing it back closer to original configuration. I would put the side and bow rails back on, and replace the women-unfriendly leaning post with the original RPS seat and a 94qt Igloo cooler seat. Then you can get 12K for it if the hull condition is excellent. Or you can sell off the high value engine (should be lot of buyers here for that) and sell the boat/trailer separately. Then a buyer can put the power of their choice on. |
| Erik 88Montauk |
It is only advertised here so the responses are quite slim and mostly just tire kickers as Nick has alluded to many times in the past. I agree the original RPS might help lure in some of the purists but I continue to use it and I hated the RPS (which I do not have any longer). While certain parts of the country and some family types do like the rails, here on Tampa Bay rails are far more of a negative. I do have them and have noted that above but again my use keeps me from wanting to throw them on. I am not needing to sell the boat, I just don't use it enough to warrant keeping it. The 200 hrs of motor use in the last 6 years is proof to that. I do have marine beanbag chairs that are used for family outings although no one has an interest in boat trips anymore. If I decide that I need to get rid of it I will likely follow your advice and bring it back to a more original shape. Until then, I will leave it Tampa Bay friendly and enjoy it on my rare outings. I have no real interest in parting it out but if I get to the point that I need to sell it I may consider that. Unless I get serious about selling it, I'll leave it up here and perhaps someone will come along one day and buy it. |
| bkjones |
I agree with the above about the rails and RPS, although I get what you're saying about the rails being a detractor for the area. For someone looking for more cruising purposes over fishing or with kids (such as myself) the rails are a huge plus. I've also got the factory leaning post, but would prefer the RPS. I also agree about the motor and that was the reason I had asked about hours as I was toying with the idea of buying the whole rig and selling the hull and trailer and putting the motor on my hull. I don't think I can make the math work though nor do I have the need to spend money. You're in a good spot though not needing to sell it anyway. Any interest in selling just the bean bags? If so, what would you be looking for? We went out a couple months ago and had 4 kids on board and threw some non-marine bean bags on the stern deck and they worked out great, but they wouldn't be ideal if they'd gotten wet. |

Eric, Opportunities are occasionally missed just barely by both buyer and seller. The week before Christmas, my wife and I drove from Virginia to Florida for the express purpose of buying a Whaler. An Ebay boat I specifically wanted to see was an Outrage that did not exist except in the seller's mind. As disappointing as this was, I lined up two more boats that interested me in the Tampa area Craigslist. One of them was your Montauk and you were unable to find time away from work to show it to me in the short time I was in your area, so we headed down to Englewood where we contacted the owner of a Montauk 170 which we bought and pulled back to Virginia the next day. I don't regret our purchase but your boat could very well have ended up in Virginia under other circumstances. I felt the price was right given the engine you have. Anyway, good luck. It will sell if you want it to sell. Jim |

shameless bump... |

Let's see if $8500 gets at least one person to come look at it. |

Erik, I have a friend who has caught the Montauk bug. I am sending him this link and will push him your way this morning. |

You have e-mail Erik with my phone number. Give a holler when convenient. |
