Hi forum members,

I am selling my 1987 Revenge 20 WT with near-new under-warranty Evinrude 150 eTec, with less than 30 hours. It is without a trailer.

I bought this boat from its original owner in Ohio last April, and it has been a fresh water mild usage babied boat for nearly all of its life. I re-powered her last June, bottom painted her for her first time, and have used it last season as a kiddie-shuttle and Barnegat Bay cruiser.

I paid $15,000 alone for the repower, with new gauges, cables, and controls.

She runs flawlessly, although shows her age with a fiberglass ding here or there. She is solid and safe however, and the engine has her on plane with head-snapping thrust. She will top out at 40 mph, but enjoys a real economical cruising at about 27 mph. I do not have fuel consumption figures, but the eTec is a fast, lightweight, and yet economical power plant for this boat, which has a 77 gallon tank. The floor is solid, and the hull is rock hard and steady.

If I were inclined to make this boat a queen before I sold her, I would replace one or both cabin roof hatches, replace the rubrail, refinish the teak trim, and do some very minor ding repair to the hull, and wax the heck out of her. I am not inclined to do that for time and logistical reasons.

I am selling her as my shore home has to be torn down and rebuilt. I am trying to get funds to help in that endeavor. Sandy has hit Normandy Beach particularly hard, including my entire area. My home won't be torn down and rebuilt this year. Perhaps it will by the time summer 2014 rolls around.

During Hurricane Sandy she was sitting on blocks in front of my home. I pulled her out of the water the weekend before the storm. She is completely undamaged. She was lifted in the flood off her blocks, and once the flood receded she lay on my front yard. One of the pictures I am including in the link below shows her post-flood-recession. Insurance has covered moving her to McCarthy's Marine, where he cleaned her, confirmed with adjusters that the engine is pristine, and the hull is undamaged. Insurance has also covered the loss of my weather curtain set, some cushions, and winterizing her and shrink-wrapping her. While I wish the boat was damaged from a personal perspective - she was not, and so I hope to recoup funds through a sale instead.

The boat is at McCarthy's Marine now, blocked and wrapped, and he will show it to anyone who is interested. I am listing the boat for sale with him, as I don't have the time or logistics to sell it myself. Ed is a great guy. His phone is 732-528-8200, and his website is http://mccarthysmarine.com/ .

The boat's asking price is $19,900 or something like that, but feel free to make a reasonable offer. This boat has the potential to be a real beauty, whether you fish or cruise, is reliable with brand new power, and I have easily $25,000 into her.

Here are some pictures: http://www.flickr.com/photos/92919720@N06/

I may have some more on a computer somewhere, or a phone or camera, so feel free to ask for photos if you need them. Even better - come see the boat at McCarthy's yourself.

While I am listing the boat on this site, It is officially listed with Ed, and even if we agree on a sale, I will have the sale go through Ed.

Cheers folks. Hopefully I will be back in a smaller Whaler in 18 months.

The boat has an eTec engine and not an eTed.

Good luck with the sale Sal. That is a great boat at a good price for someone. Having spent nearly all of it's life in the freshwater here in the Great Lakes I am sure it shows better than most any other Revenge in your area.

I remember when it was for sale the first time a few years ago, had the timing been a little different and I had 17 Whaler sold, I would have bought that boat the second I saw it on Craiglist.

Thanks Jeff. I am going to ask Ed to make the asking price $18k. Maybe that is a better reflection of the market.

asking price now $18k. Email me with any questions.

With the going rate for an E-Tec 150 repower running 15K, only 3K for the boat sounds like a steal to me.

I would think it will go fast.

At this pricing, even someone looking for a new E-tec 150 repower could buy the rig, take the engine for their re-power application, sell the Revenge unpowered and come out way ahead.

Wow, this really got me thinking of your Revenge. I was looking to trade my 150 montauk for a 18' classic outrage. I know the dealer and met Ed at the boat show a few years back.

Bump for a nice boat at a great price. Good luck with the sale Sal, I'm sure it won't last long at that price.

Thanks guys...

By the way... I am open to trades. Id love to trade down to a 150 or 170 Montauk, as well as a 17 Montauk.

At least a smaller trailer-ed boat means some lake visits...

Open to offers folks... this is a classic with new power, and is a battle-wagon. Perfect for cruising or fishing, unless I am doing the fishing...

Sal A I got the same boat and i'm wondering what size motor you had before going to the 150 etec? If it was bigger did you miss out on any appreciable top end? Looking to repower. Thanks

Floater... I had a 175 Johnson two stroke. the 150 eTec I have feels more powerful, not less. And it is efficient and clean. I highly endorse that engine choice.

Bump to the top... Make an offer guys! Help send a freak to college.

It is now spring my friends. I would like to bump this up to the top with a price reduction and a change of perspective:

A new 150 eTec would run about $15,000 installed. The one on the Revenge 20WT is essentially new with under 30 hours. How about thinking of it like this...

Buy this new eTec, with the new gauges and cabling, for $12,500, and I'll throw in the boat for $5,000 extra.

(price drop $18,000 to $17,500 total)

Sal A posted 04-10-2013 11:48 AM ET (US)     Profile for Sal A  Send Email to Sal A
Dropping the price. $16,000 firm.

You would pay more for the engine and rigging and gauges new, and here you get a 30 hour mint-running engine with SS prop, and you can just sell off the perfectly good never-submerged hull off as you wish.

Oh and the engine is warrantied.

Any questions feel free to reach out to me, and thank you. The boat is due to come our from its shrinkwrap and be cleaned up nice. This is a turn-key boat.

I would consider trading for a Montauk on a trailer. The beach house is a going bye bye.

Make an offer... want to move this. She is cleaned.

Wish I'd seen it two years ago, be perfect for the Pacific NW with the rain and cool weather.

Are you advertising on Craigslist?

We summer on in NJ, you'd think someone would be on top of that deal.

I am not. I will. Thanks.

Bump for a nice boat at an excellent price. I can't believe that no one has bought the boat yet, especially for the price of the motor alone. Warm weather is here, your boat won't be around much longer. If I did not already have my 205, I would be there with a trailer taking it home to Virginia! Good luck with the sale Sal, all the best with the "Sandy" recovery.

It is the perfect PacNW Whaler.

If I didn't have $40K in my Outrage 22 restoration, I'd be on it.

I know that boat would sell in Seattle or Portland.

Price drop to $14,000 cash outright, or will consider trade for pristine Montauk. Weather is great and Jersey is rebuilding.

I'll even sell the boat with a 150 eTec, and not a 150 eTed.

Please close this post - I started a new one with hopefully correct spelling. I also added more pictures. Thanks very much Jim.
