I have added a console to my 9 ft tender and tried to use vintage steering cables unsuccessfully. Has any body put teleflex cable on 9 footer?
I have seen one or two, but unable to contact owners.
need to know model and length. Thanks

Your post might get better response if posted in "Repairs and Modifications" section. I checked Teleflex, and the shortest cable I found was 8 feet, which is probably too long for your boat. You may have to install cable steering, which can be any length you need.
The procedure for measuring single-cable mechanical steering is: 1, Measure from the center of the steering wheel to the edge of the console (or to the gunwale (gunnel). 2. Measure from that point to the stern, to a point that is in line with the tilt tube (or where the steering cable will connect) on the motor. 3. Measure from that point to the centerline of the engine. 4. Total the 3 dimensions add 6 inches. This overall length would vary depending where you place the console, of course.
Those are the instructions I received.

Appropriate measurements vary by cable type and transome mount.
