I have a local friend who has a 28 Bertram Flybridge that he is looking to get out of. He has spend a fair amount of money on this boat over the years and now with his age and work schedule, the boat just done not get used. The boat is an 8 cosmetically and structurally. The engines need attention, just had carbs rebuilt and some other updates done but they are still having a hard time starting. The mechanic said he likely has heavy carbon build up for years for just trolling and driving at low, low speeds. He never took the boat out and ran it at speed for long distances in his ownership. Just trolled out of the harbor and fished from there. So with the eninges needing some work and throw slip fees and winter storage on that and he just wants it gone. While he would sell the boat outright, he is also looking to trade the Bertram for a 17 Montauk or 18 – 22 Whaler and asked if I could post it for him. See the ad below. http://detroit.craigslist.org/mcb/boa/4104525584.html

Got a Montauk and a 22 Outrage (Whaler Drive and ex cuddy which could be reinstalled if desired) and would trade either one (preferably the Outrage (with 250 E-Tec) plus cash on his part) but logistics just won't work out between his location and Long Island, NY. |

I have a 1994' 19 Outrage, excellent condition but recently blew the engine. Maybe make a deal |

I find it rather incredible, a sign of the times, and a testament to classic Boston Whalers, that a 1983 Montauk in good shape is worth as much, or more, than a 1983 28' Bertram Sport fisherman. Amazing. |

I see smaller cruisers around here (Charleston, SC) in that price range regularly. I also see 35' sailboats going for less money than a Laser sailboat. I think there's a lot of people with "the shorts" right now, and they can't afford to maintain and pay for dock fees. There are a couple of moorings around here with boat sailboats and powerboats. 2/3's of the boats are just tied to a mooring and left there. There are numerous masts sticking up out of the water testifying on how long some of them have been there. |

I think Boat Trader would be the place to sell a boat like that. If it would be at a brokerage in S. Florida it would be gone in a heartbeat with the brokerage fees on top of that selling price.rich |
