I will likely be re-powering my boat with twins this winter and am currently planning to trade in this motor's value towards the re-power; I wanted to gauge interest and see if anyone is in the market for a used 2003 Yamaha 250 HPDI (2 Stroke) with a 30 inch shaft and stainless prop. The motor has consistent and excellent compression. I typically run it between 4,000 and 4,400 RPMS (28 - 30mph on my boat) and rarely run it hard. I purchased the boat in July 2012 when this motor had approx. 180 hours on it and so I've put 200 hours on it in the last 12 months. It starts every single time without hesitation (even after the long winter).

Start of this past season I changed the thermostats, water pump, VST Filter, Plugs (just to keep it maintained appropriately) and I maintain it to the T. It's fresh-water flushed after each use, the plugs are changed frequently, I have run every tank of fuel using Yamaha's Ring Free Fuel Additive (as recommended by Yamaha). Engine has approximately 390 hours on it and only reason I may get rid of it is if I re-power to twins this winter. There is some wear / discoloration on the original Yamaha decals but otherwise is perfect. It's winterized with anti-freeze.

It's rigged on a 23 foot Boston Whaler outrage and I also just replaced the throttle cables (both of them) this season - these are brand new.

I've received 9 engine quotes for my re-power which included 9 trade-in and private party sale quotes. The spread between trade quotes were between $4k - $5k and private party spread was $5k - $6k.

Let me know if there is any interest. I live in Long Island New York.

That is a good engine.
It's price range in FL would be around $4000.00 to $4500.00.
IF you must have twins, I would recommend a pair of EFI two strokes either form BMC or Mercury.
They are more fuel efficient than the four strokes & weigh
less.
