I have a complete set of OEM side rails for a pre-90's Whaler 15 Sport. Having looked for a set of pre-owned side rails for my 1987 13 Sport for a long time - and not having any luck, I found a set of rails for a 15 footer a while back. I figured I could adapt them to my 13 footer. After long and careful consideration, I am convinced it is not a good idea. I would have to cut all 6 vertical pieces down by 4 or more inches, and - worse - the stanchion brackets are too long and angled differently on the 15 than the 13 footer, and are not adaptable. So, rather than butcher up a very nice set of 15 Whaler side rails and hardware, I am going to sell them, and order a new correct set for my 13.
The rails are in very good shape, and include all brackets and mounting hardware, including screws. No rust. I will sell them for $175.00, and negotiate the shipping - if needed. I can email photos, if you're interested.

Thank you for the information. I have often wondered if the side rails were interchangeable. My real question is, "If a member was to purchase an interior from Specialty or Nautical, are the 13 Sport and 15 Sport interchangeable?" I think this info may be worthy of the archives. zotcha.

Zot, BIG difference in the two rail sets: vertically, 4 or 5 inches in the stanchions, but the rails are apparently the same horizontal length. Most frustrating is that the 13 stanchion standoffs are very short and are 90 degrees to the gunwale, whereas the 15 footer's standoffs are 2 to 3 inches long and about an 11 degree angle where it holds the stanchions.
Might not be a bad addition to the archives, now you mention it...
I know I could purchase the right standoffs, but - wow - at 12 bucks apiece, that's 72 bucks added to the expense of the rails $200 +or-, and certainly not much market for only the original standoffs...

No but Fred at (CMI ?), in Hingham, Mass, has got some beautiful replacements, in I believe 316 stainless that I have used. Nice stuff and doesn't seem too bad price wise, until you start adding them all up. Still have not replaced stern lifting rings, nor stern light mount.
I actually lowered my side rails by 1 and 7/8 inches using a small pipe cutter. Lowered them until bends are almost touching stansions. I like the appearance, but I do not think I will try this on my CC conversion. Lord knows standing in a 15 is exciting enough. Feels like your doing 44 mph on a 10 foot long board, and the bow is going to stuff anything over a foot high from that vantage point! Had the pleasure of operating an86Carrera's stand up 15 with a 90 hp and larger carbs. Hilarious. Your brain just can't process what is happening. But man it was fun!!!

I think I want these. as long as they will go on a super sport (has the storage compartments in the stern seat).

Goldstem, The Supersport has the wraparound type rails. I do have the OEM long (74") side rail segments for the supersport, but not the bow rail section. Below are links to the photo of the rails, and photo of how they are located on the Supersport.

Zot, I had an '85 15 CC, which came with a 70 Yamaha. First time out, ran so fast and scared me so bad, I sold the 70, and bought a Merc 50 4-stroke. I only lost 4 mph, and gained a HUGELY better gasoline bill.
