I noticed a 2004 BW Nauntucket 190 for sale with 115 Merc in my neighbor hood. Asking $17,500. Michigan (no salt) boat with 200 hrs on it. I'm not familiar with that model but she looks in mint condition and therefore I thought the price is good here in SW Michigan.

Seems a little marginal on power.

This was the original power offering when the Nantucket was introduced. Along with the name change to Outrage 190, the new L4 Verado engine family has increased the standard engine hp offered from 115 to 135 and now 150. The max hp on this model today is 200 hp.
Henry, (aka the Yiddil) owned this model with a Mercury 115. He was mostly pleased.

I've been on Henry's boat a number of times. While Phil is right that he was initially satisfied with the 115, his satisfaction declined over time, until he replaced the engine with a 150 E-Tec a few years ago.
We played around with a couple of different props on the 115 (16" Vengeance, 17" Trophy Plus, and at least one more that I don't recall right now), but nothing proved better than what I'd call "marginally adequate". It would certainly push the boat around, if you were a little patient about getting planed off. Forget skiing or wakeboarding.
The 150 E-Tec was a fabulous upgrade, and in my opinion really allowed the boat to perform as it was intended. I think it's telling that 150 HP is now the standard engine for the boat, and the 115 is no longer offered.
In other words, "Seems a little marginal on power." :-)

Kalamazoo Michigan Craigs list. Yeap she is mint. Its so bad that she is under powered - that would go super quick.Dont know with 115 . Exactly what I am looking for but want at least 135 HP to move that relatively heavy hull.

If the price is right and the boat is mint, well, they sell new engines, and old engines have resale value. A little more complicated, but if that's what it takes to get the right boat, so what?

Marlin been that road - aint worthed - new motor is more than asking price of the boat.You're better of getting it right first time with right power for more money.
