I am selling my 1970 Boston Whaler Katama with 1994 Yamaha 70 hp outboard motor and refurbished 1988 Calkins trailer. It is a great boat but I cannot keep it at my house anymore and would rather get something with a cabin for overnights if storing at a marina. The boat looks great and is ready to go. Here's a some history on the extensive restoration and upgrades:
It was partially restored by the previous owner, who owns a Boston Whaler dealer. It has the original console and steering wheel but the seat is from a newer Dauntless, I believe. The previous owner did all the cushions in white with red pipping and put in a new W.J. Mills canvas windshield, which is still in excellent shape. He also had a cushion custom made to fit in front of the console where the original "bucket seats" would have been. We built a custom pedestal with a platform made of King Starboard plastic material and stainless stanchions to make the seat more comfortable and provide some storage underneath.
The previous owner also redid all the wiring and put in a two battery system with a Guest switch as well as a Jensen MSR2107 stereo with USB and auxiliary inputs for MP3 devices and two Fusion speakers. The lights, radio and bilge pump are wired to a switch panel, and the pump is also direct wired to the battery through a fuse for automatic activation via the float. I also put in two new marine batteries last fall and a new Rule 500 GPH bilge pump this year. The motor allegedly came from a freshwater boat. It looks very clean and runs like new. The boat also has a single Yamaha electronic gage.
In the summer of 2012, we painted the hull using white Interlux Brightside polyurethane and installed a brand new W.J. Mills Bimini top. We also reinstalled the bow rail replacing missing and corroded hardware with new pieces from Specialty Marine along with the correct stern light. I also have the side rails that are almost complete and with several new pieces of hardware as well. The trailer was also completely refurbished in 2012 with new bunks, wheels, tires, bearings, etc.
Included in the sale is a Garmin GPSMAP 276C portable GPS chart plotter with older North American charts on CD and RAM console mount as well as a telescoping hook swim ladder, Danforth anchor (with sawed off stock so it will fit in the forward locker), chain, rode, two bumpers and two docking lines.

I am reducing the price to $6,900. I would like to sell this fall and not have to pay to store her over the winter. As I said above, this boat is in great shape and has many upgrades. Compare to similar 17 or even 15-foot hulls that are in very rough shape and you will see it is well worth the money.
