Hi,
Sadly my father passed away and I am selling his 1965 Eastport/nauset (with rear bench, compass, etc. plus custom made canvas covers added later) and original 55 hp Homelite engine and a trailer. This boat has been stored in a garage in Detour Village, Michigan for many years covered and the boat and woodwork are still in excellent shape. The engine was working well when last used and was winterized before being stored. Does anybody have any idea what such a boat is valued at? I am having a hard time determining an asking price for this lovely boat that I would imagine is rare to find in such good condition. I do have photographs I could send as I can't seem to attach them here. Thank you in advance.

Kristen: I am very sorry to hear of your fathers passing. My condolences to you and your family.
Others will be better able to value your fathers boat but pictures will help immensely.
You can't attach/upload photos to this site but you can post a link to a site where you can upload. A lot of people use this site http://imgur.com/ to upload a photo set and then post the link. To post the link and have it show as a link put [url] before and after the link address.

Again, my condolences on your loss. Good luck with the sale. This site is full of extremely knowledgeable Whaler folk and they will be along to help you value the boat and spread the word.

That boat is darn near perfect. I would not sell it on the open market yourself. I would take it to Irish Boat Shop in Harbor Springs and have them broker it. It will take the right buyer to appreciate it and pay top dollar for it. They have access to those kinds of people.
It is in such perfect condition the price could vary greatly depending on how long you are willing to wait and find the right buyer. I would think a fair market listing price would be in $12,500 - $15,000 to gather some good interest and get some offers. If you want to move it faster and maybe on your own, then $10,000 - $12,500.
You could ask as high as $20,000 but you might have it listed for years trying to find that one buyer who would go that high.

That boat Saumon linked to was actually restored by a member here, Buckda (Dave). He sold it on eBay a few years ago and was the fortunate seller who had two people get in a bidding war at the last minute in a good market. It sold on eBay for $12,500. Since then, I think it was sold by that winning bidder to the person who is now selling it. While nice, I do not think that boat in that ad will fetch the $12,500 asking price. That eBay selling price / winning bid was above market value for that boat and since then, the sellers have been trying to use that as their benchmark...albeit a flawed one. I think a $8500 - maybe $10,000 would be a realist selling price for the boat in that ad.
The interior blue gelcoat on that hull was baked by years in the southern sun. While Dave in his restoration of the hull was able to make it shiny, the gelcoat did have some UV crazy that I doubt yours has Kristen. It also does not have all of the original canvas you have.
I still hold true to the figures I listed above on your hull.

That is all the seller has at this time. If she states the boat is in the same condition today as the photos, we should be able to take her word for that and give a value from them. As you would know, it is not uncommon for northern Great Lake boats to seemly never age. But yes more current photos would be nice.

Well 18 years ago that boat was beautiful ! Hopefully it still is. Sadly I think it will be beyond my price range.

I found this Boston Whaler Sakonnet in my local area. There is a picture that shows a small plaque proclaiming it to be the last of its kind. Listing price is 12K with stated condition being excellent.
