About to send this to a shop that can fix the cracked gimbal ring (looks like a shark jaw) for a reasonable price. I was thinking of replacing the entire Alpha 1 gen 1 outdrive assembly with one that has never seen salt water.Seems like an outboard version would be far better for salt water, but then again this one has a heat exchanger so no salt water touches the engine so it is fresh water cooled and risers. Seems to go through zinc anodes very quickly
but before I transport it 30 miles to a shop with a reasonable hourly rate, was wondering if anyone is interested in a project boat.
this was a lake boat until 2011
Any suggestions on what it may be worth would be greatly appreciated.
I know that nice one with a working four cylinder was having trouble being sold at < $5K, and that they are worth a little more on the West Coast due to transport cost, so it is worth $5K minus repair costs minus headache cost :)
