Need opinions on good reasonably priced boat covers for a Boston Whaler Outrage 17 II 1996. Would love to get the one Mills sells, but $1000 is a bit much.

I live in NJ so needs to be good for the cold weather and keep the snow out. I really dont want to shrink wrap it as I want to be able to use as late into the season and early spring. Not to mention I can use the cover all year.

Thanks!

I picked up a nice cover for my first outrage from boatcoversdirect or taylor made...I forget which but you could customize them pretty easily. I have a 1999 17'Outrage and am in the same boat as you right now...Last year I used a 12' x 20' tarp with bunge cords and that worked surprisingly well.

Good luck...

I had a 1998 Outrage II for 10 years with a Westland Custom Cover purchased from iboats.com. It was made from Sunbrella and was holding up strong when I sold the boat. Paid about $550 for it.

I have a heavy duty Fischer canvas winter cover which I would sell. It was from my old 1996 17 Outrage and was only used two seasons! It cost over $700 new. The boat was then garaged and the cover has been sitting for a couple years. I would part with it for $450 if anyone is interested in it?

I bought one cover here (see link) and quality and fit is good. holds up well at 70mph and for standing still storage. Highly recommend it and pick color and material to meet your specifications.

thanks all. The fischer would be nice, but also want to use all year and stay under $250. I found Seal Skin 1200, warranty is good and price is right. Anyone heard of that brand?

Hi. I'm very happy with the cover I bought from this company on ebay for my 22' Outrage. I found one specifically made for a 1996-1998 17' Outrage II. I think $143.99 plus $17 shipping is a great price.

By the way, the name of the company is Autoshield. Here is a link to their ebay store: http://stores.ebay.com/autoshield?_trksid=p2047675.l2563

The cover I purchased includes an integrated hood that covers the top of my outboard motor.

I also bought a cover from Autoshield and so far after about 2 months I'm pretty happy with it. I needed to use support poles in the bow and stern (I wound up using an expandable painters pole from the hardware store, pretty inexpensive). For under $200, tough to beat.

The cover I bought from Autoshield in October of 2013 is holding up very well. The fabric is light, thin, and strong. Their covers come with a five year warranty and returns are accepted. I have not found a better deal out there. Good luck.

I am reducing my Fisher custom canvas winter cover to $395, if you are interested. Fits the 17 Outrage II like a glove. Very good overall condition, just a few small tears starting around a couple of grommets. The tie down tabs, canvas cover and inner pads and vents are all in nice shape. Cover is heavy but I can ship it relatively inexpensive on Greyhound bus. Pictures available by request. Check out their website at:
