posted 07-04-2015 04:18 PM ET (US) My 87 Johnson 70 with trim/tilt was recently run hot and cooked the power head. Just painted her too. What's a realistic value for that motor with controls or is there any value?

Would need more info. What is cooked? Could be done for you or rare opportunity for someone else. Does the engine turn over? Fresh water motor? Rusty? What failed?
Pull the head and have a look at the cylinder walls. That was a simple, tough engine made for many years. Chuck

Thanks Chuck, I had my boys at marina look at it, there was metal in cylinders and was locked up. It had gotten extremely hot before shutting down, overheating alarm didn't sound off and my son isn't experienced enough to hear problems brewing. It would have meant new power head so I ended up trading it out with a Yamaha.

Sounds like the best move. Good luck with your Yamaha, I love both of mine. Chuck
