I'm selling my 1998 17' MONTAUK, 90 Evinrude Ocean Pro and EZ Loader trailer. Everything is in excellent condition for its age. I also have it posted with several photos in Milwaukee Craigslist. http://milwaukee.craigslist.org/boa/5165411459.html

I'm asking $13,750.00 which I think is pretty reasonable, if my price it too low or high I'd appreciate the feedback. I'm only selling it because I bought a new 190 MONTAUK. |

Swab, that's a beautiful Montauk - pretty much the nicest one I have seen. That said, one sees Montauks up for sale quite frequently, and with carbed 2-strokes such as yours, they often seem to go for less than $10K. At your asking price, people would either be looking for a newer motor, or they might even be looking for a Montauk 170 6 or 7 years newer. I don't mean to be discouraging, but you'll have to find a real enthusiast at that price, and it might take a while. You might also consider repainting the skeg and updating the pictures that show it - it looks like it's been through the sand quite a bit, and some potential buyers might be put off by that. Good luck! Tim |

Swab,For a point of reference in 1999 I bought a new 16 Dauntless loaded with options and a 115 HP Evinrude two stroke engine on a very nice aluminum trailer with torsion axle and disc brakes for right at $16,000. I'd guess your 1998 Montauk didn't sell for much more than your asking price. Folks may assume your engine and trailer are also seventeen years old which could have a negative effect on offers. The only feedback I can give as far as market price is, There was one in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan that sold in January for $12,500. It was Exact same boat, in the exact same condition but it had a 90 Yamaha and had the Red detailing. |
