A good friend of mine just passed away this week and his wife is going to sell his 1997 Outrage 17 but is not sure of what price to ask. It has an 1997 Ocean Pro 115 plus 6 HP kicker , bimini, console cover, GPS, full cover, 2012 aluminum trailer. The boat is located in North East, Maryland. It is in very good condition. It only needs a good detailing and a fresh coat of bottom paint to put it in excellent condition.Any help would be appreciated. Wally

Great boat-crappy motor-depending of condition somewhere in 8-10 K range-she has to consider that whomever buys it will be looking at cost of repower sooner than later. |

Wally, you can look at sites like Boattrader.com to find comparables. A quick check shows prices range from $11 to $14K.It is a challenging time of year to be selling a boat, of course, especially on the East Coast. Condition is all-important, so it's great that it's so nice. There is nothing wrong with the older motor, especially if it is running well. In many ways, I'd prefer an older motor that can be run for a while, then replaced with something of my choice, rather than a newer motor that doesn't fit my needs. The new aluminum trailer is also a real plus. I would recommend an asking price toward the high end of the range, maybe $13,250, and expect to sell for between $11,500 and $12,500 depending on how long the seller wants to wait. Tim |

Thanks for the info. He paid $14,000 for it 2 years ago and then added the GPS and full cover. I think he paid a little on the high side but it was supply and demand for what he wanted. He only put about 5 or 6 hours on it after he got it in late Summer and then got sick so he never got to enjoy his Whaler.I will pass this along. |

Wally - Indeed, supply and demand are often a controlling criterion. I have an similar set-up but without the kicker, bimini top and bottom paint.I glance through the CW's market section every day - not really looking for anything - but I have never seen a listing for the 17 Outrage II with the 115 on it. As such, looking through boattrader.com as Tedious mentioned - and other similar websites would be a good idea. -- Jerry/Idaho |

Jerry-Craigs list is your market indicator what they sell for-boat trader and yacht world are mostly dealers websites-there are dozen 17 outrages right now for sale around the country and several with 115 HP-just google craigslistthing.com and type desired search and you will see them. I have mint 96 17 outrage with yammi 115 for sale right now and will be lucky if I get 12 for her. With evinrude forget it .Nobody wants OMC crap here northeast. |

Fyi...I picked up a 1999 17' Outrage a couple of years ago that was in decent shape for about $11k...put a ton of work to get her in better shape...I'm guessing I could get about what I bought her for...Its a great boat...can go just about anywhere... |
