17’ Boston Whaler 1968Former CYC (Cambridge Yacht Club) sailing school tender. The hull was believed to have been re-foamed in the late 1990’s or early 2000’s, several years before my purchase in 2003. During that time it is believed that all teak was removed and a new fiberglas console was installed. After my purchase minor updates were made (cooler seat, depth finder, minor electrics). Around 2009/10 trailer was replaced with a then new Performance brand trailer. In 2009 or 2010 it was also re-powered with a slightly used (250 hours, motor apparently came off of a Whaler Dauntless but was swapped for something bigger after a few seasons) 75 HP 2006 Evenrude ETEC. The motor has been incredible and far and away the best outboard motor I have owned. The hull is solid, the motor excellent and the trailer in great shape.
If you are looking for a classic Boston Whaler, this boat is not only solid but comes with a great motor and good trailer. Not perfect, but ready for a few more seasons.
