I just bought a '65 16' on ebay. Not sure of the model but theres some serious problems. The gel coat on both the interior & exterior have serious cracking. It looks as if the boat was parked in the middle of the sahara dessert since new. Having always wanted a whaler, I would like to make the best of a bad situatition. There does not seem to be any delamination or retained water in the hull. My question is how do I go about repairing the gel coat, also the bow rail is gone as is the front running light & in both spots the holes have been poorly repaired. The side rails seem to be on their third set of larger screws & half of those are striped leaving large craters & there are various dings & dents. If this boat was not a whaler I would not atempet to take on a project like this.
