While preparing my 2000 Montauk for winter storage, I noticed a small chip or nick on the keel, towards the bow (just forward of the drain for the anchor locker). It is a slight nick.

Is this something I should worry about? If so, what is the suggested remedy?

Thanks

Keith - If the chip is not through the gel coat, then you do not need to worry about it. If it is, see the answers to the thread from tspring titled "Repair of spider cracks".

Hope this helps,

Peter Ferguson

spectrumcolor.com has gel coat repair kits for most boats. Exact Whaler gel coat colors available. I've used with good results. A small repair kit is $20.

If you don't see the small kit online call their phone number and order.

You can also get Spectrum gelcoat in Whaler colors from West Marine's catalog order dept.
