I know there have been many discussions here on Montauk fuel tanks. I made a decision a couple of weeks ago to buy a Pate 24gal fiberglass tank. I received it today and just wanted to let all know that this is a first class tank. For a Montauk they make the 24 and 27 gallon tank. I decided on the 24gal so it would allow more room below the seat to access the filler, etc.. It has a section in the fiberglass where you can see thru to the fuel level so there is no guessing if a gauge gives the correct reading or not. I chose to have it painted desert tan also which will match my Montauk perfectly. If someone is considering a new quality tank look at the Pate Plastics tank. Their phone number is 305-754-0896. Rex

My '84 Montauk came with 24 gallon Pate tank.
I believe it was original equipment. It's still doing great.
How are you mounting the tank. I understand that they used to be mounted on a rubber pad.
Mine isn't. Just some blocks screwed into the deck to hold it in position under the seat.
Mine is the original reddish brown color, unpainted.
I'll have to contact Pate and see if mine can be painted desert tan. Sounds great.
Good luck with your new tank.
Hank

I have not yet placed the tank in the boat. I am going to get some kind of a mat or use the plastic, snap-together deck material. Otherwise it will kill my nonskid. Rex

Are the dimensions on the tank 30" by 18 3/4" by 12" high? And is it a model # C-24? How much do they cost, and do you think there worth it. I have a 1993 Montauk? Thanks..

The tank I bought is a C-24 (24gal) and it measures 30 1/4" wide x 19" fore/aft x 11 3/4" tall. I have not placed the tank in my boat yet because I am totally refitting the whole boat. It certainly does appear to be a first class tank but you do pay for it though. The retail price sheet shows the cost to be $364. Rex
