I have a 1996 Dauntless 20 with a 175 Evinrude. Last fall I removed the battery when I winterized and now I'm not sure what wires are connected to what post. I know the big red wire connects to the "+" and the big black wire connects to the "-" but what about all the rest. Worst case I'll just go down to the marina and look at the setup on another boat. Any general rules here? Thanks.

If your boat was rigged properly, all the battery leads will be red and black. However, if not, look for a lead with an in-line fuse in it. That would be the positive (+) one. Other I can't help you with! |

Once you have it sorted out, do yourself a favor and put a nylon tie around all of the positive leads and another around all of the negative leads, close to where they connect to the battery. |

Or buy a little bottle of red car touch-up paint, and paint the positive leads. |
