I have a 1968 Sport 13 (blue interior, original white gunwhale rail) and I would like to get a mooring top made. Is it still possible to get the old nylon clips that fitted over the rail? Or, is there another way to attach the cover without resorting to installing dome fasteners? By the way, I have had my Whaler for over twenty five years but just found this forum today. It looks great. Thanks. SM

Mill`s still makes the Mooring covers for these old Whalers and they have metal clips! I have one for my 73` `16 Currituck. Regards-Jack Graner.

Thanks for that info. After reading a number of other canvas related posts I began to think that Mills might be the best bet. I've also read that they are fairly pricey and in my Canadian $$ that multiplies quickly. I was hoping to source the clip and find a local manufacturer. I'll check out Mills, Thanks.

SM,

When I had a mooring cover made for my last Montauk I couldn't quite bring myself to order a Mills cover because of the price. So I had a local canvas company make one. This canvas outfit made all the canvas for our local Whaler dealer so they had all the patterns. But they also had the Mills clips which, I presume, they bought through the dealer as Whaler parts. So, you may be able to buy the clips themselves and have another outfit make a cover. But if you do, the clips are the only way to go.

Thanks, I'll start checking for a supplier. Don't worry, I will not resort to dome or any other mechanical fastener. I wonder if anyone has got a decent fit using an elastisized or bungie line edge?

Thanks and regards, SM
