After giving my 19' Outrage its first real bath in ten years, I discovered that in some areas the gelcoat has cracked and has curled up, it almost looks like it is peeling. Most of the boat is in good shape, but what is the cause of this, and is there any cure or remedy.
Thanks in advance.

I am re-doing a 74 Capri Sailboat right now and the deck has a very bad case of this. It seems to occur mostly in inside corners all over the boat, fun sanding. My old Polish Fiberglass Repair buddy says it is because the gelcoat is too thick. Makes sense, and seems reasonable, think about an old house with paint that is aligatoring. I don't think there is a thing in the world you can do to stop it. Fixing = fill & gelcoat or paint.

Best regards,
Tom
