I'mm looking seriously at a 1985 18' Outrage. Good condition, fresh water only, full Mills canvas package, etc. Without scouring past forum posts (which I will do later), any quick advice/areas to look at that may have been trouble spots for this model?

Some folks have mentioned soft spots in the decking somewhere near the splash wall I think.

Drain tubes - bow anchor locker & bilge
Tubes through the transom (2)
For all the above tubes make sure that the seal between the hull and the tube is still good.
Check the transom for soft spots and cracks. check the holes for the engine to see if they are properly sealed. Check the rest of the hull for cracks other than spider cracks. Check the keel for any repairs and bad spots. Look down the sides of the hull for wavy lines (especially if the trailer has wobble rollers).

Don't forget to check the motor!!What year is it?

The boat and motor are 1985, 90 HP Evinrude. The shop that services the engine says it has good compression and everything is in order. I will check out all of the above areas and appreciate the input.
